Of course. The way he was accelerating over the top after Knox’s digs on the finishing climb, it was nailed on unless he messed up the finale.

I’m glad to see him get his first pro win! I expect he’ll get more in that jersey.

I'm really pleased for Fred, he deserves a win and the Nationals is as good a place to start as anywhere. I'm hoping, like many others I'm sure, that this is the first win of many.

His celebration was very classy too, can't imagine how tough it's been for the Bahrain riders over the past week or so.

The interview afterwards too, he stayed very polite in the line of a few too many shit questions.

Someone needs to look into whats going on in sports journalism. the ones doing Cycling in particular seem to be completely uninterested in being Good At The Job.

I didn't realise that the national champs was on yesterday until a friend mentioned it off the cuff at a BBQ on Saturday. Spent the afternoon sitting on a 25% corner in the town - rather brutal! Fantastic spot to watch though, can see riders descend from Brotton, wind round the bottom & then straight into the last 500m of the course.

Weather was mixed to say the least, though really the course got off lightly compared to much heavier rain which passed to the west & east.

What are you talking about, the quadrant of Bernal, Martinez, Pidcock and Rodriguez is going to show Movistar the errors of their ways.

probably is since the very early days. Not much choice though I suppose-Bernal not back to his best, Thomas riding the Giro and Vuelta instead and Tao injured (and possibly leaving the team anyway). I guess Pidcock is there for stage wins more than anything, and to gain more experience. and Bernal is going to just see what his form is really like over a full 3 weeks.
