Chronostop eh? How that work then?
Second hand overide?
-
• #72782
Yeah, it's like a chrono second, but only counts seconds. When it's running, you press the button, it stops and when you release - it resets to 12:00.

GS by the fire. Love this watch. Never had a truly "nice" watch before.

So in my search for JLC Geophysic true second alternative I have found myself in place I never wanted to be... Searching eBay for used GS listings... There's quite a few that are intriguing, albeit mostly too small at 36mm.
Things like:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/256094508988?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=qbwbORp8SKu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=jg5XK7xoRQS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Into a rabbit hole I go...@Sumo I dig the Sinn you suggested but if I was going Sinn it'd be a u50 or a Matte finish 104

Have no hesitation about ordering from that seller. I have done so and everything went very smoothly. Just be careful of vintage GS. Don’t buy something that is over polished. Or ideally, not polished at all.

Isn't yahoo.jp the place to go for used GS?
-
• #72794
For auctions, sure. But the seller that TRA linked sells on yahoo.JP and eBay. Pricing is the same or sometimes cheaper on eBay, like it is currently. His watches are undeniably a good deal right now with a lot of them being 20% off their already cheap prices.

All the 2nd hand watch shops I’ve visited in Tokyo over the last couple of weeks had great stock. Was impressed with originality and provenance of most of them.
The yen is really weak at the moment so prices are especially good for some currencies.

75th Anniversary Seamaster 300 and Aqua Terra
Like the Aqua Terra, shame its not a 38mm version as the 300m is the larger at 41mm but smaller than the current versions.

If you’re considering buying a vintage GS from Japan I strongly suggest you subscribe to the Grand Seiko Guy’s substack for a few weeks:
He breaks down auction listings each week and you’ll learn what to watch out for. There are quite a lot of frankenwatches and incorrect or fake dials out there, not to mention incorrect crowns, wrong bracelets, date change mechanisms not working, etc.

New thing. Been wearing a cheapo Casio loads of late, so it felt like time.
Really love the atomic sync and having a power level indicator. The new longer light and day/month options are nice too.
Changed the band to the one from the GW-5000... much softer and comfier, very pleasing...

Yes I looked at the white dial in the boutique in Knightsbridge a while ago, it is very nice but I much prefer the silver dial of the 091 (over the new white) and don’t need another black dialled watch.
