I would, I have zero interest in electronic shifting #luddite4lyf

I really hate charging things, switched all bikes to dynamo lighting, etc and had zero interest.. until I was on a very cold & wet ride one day and got to the point where I could barely shift the mechanical gears with frozen shivering fingers. Reluctantly planning to upgrade the group to leccy when finances allow, maybe next year.

Just buy leccy gloves ? Far cheaper

I also wouldn't buy electronic shifting. My life is digital enough rly. Bike stuff is the one reprieve.
That said, the place where I can see actual benefit is 24hr XC sort of stuff. Your hands and wrists suffer so much there ...

Agreed. Part of the joy of riding and tinkering for me is the simplicity and mechanical nature of it all. Something quite rewarding about knowing how it all works and fits together in this digital age. But I’m sure it has its uses
-

The average user just rides his bike two times a month and cares nothing about tinkering. This group is an oasis of old fixie skidders

I kind of agree. I’ve got no mad desire for it but had di2 ultegra on a road bike I hired on holiday last year and it was super nice. So smooth.

Oh, I bet. Still, don't want it ...

No gravel and no bikepacking in the FT’s How To Spend It. Surely ‘on here’.

I’m not interested in electric groupsets
I don’t want to have to charge another thing

You can take my mechanical groupsets from my cold dead hands

Imagine the grin this induces.
Sonder Camino Ti is a steal at under 3k and I’m struggling to find a Di2/AXS that cheap on trades, the only one so far is Trek. Emonda ALR Di2.
That’s the point, the mechanical are now in the position of being too expensive that, why not just go for SRAM Rival? (Incidentally I just purchased a fully bled Rival shifter/brakes pair for under £273 with my trade account).
I’m hoping this will mean the mechanical will become more affordable, and on sub 1k bike (CUES hopefully with 9 speed hydraulic).
