  • A certified beauty that!

  • It is, but it's time to let someone else enjoy it. My riding is minimal/ nearly non existent these days, I'm much happier with my walking boots and a rucksack at the moment, and as I'm trying to leave being a grumpy twat behind, I plan to do whatever makes me happiest in the moment, and it's only stuff, nothing that can't be replaced/replicated if feel the need in the future.
May need to go seek out a rambling/hiking forum , so I can obsess over the latest boot n rucksack tech.

  • Oh I totally hear you. And good on you for being clear headed enough to see it and follow it - it’s a great thing to see. And stuff is just stuff, you’re totally right. Fell running is what gives me meaningful happiness, and over the last few months making proper efforts to get it back in my life made a massive difference. Slightly hypocritical of me to dole out any sort of life advice like that while I suckle at the capitalist teet, constructing my poseur wagon, but still. Hills are better than stuff. It’s just a fact.

  • Can't believe you wanna get rid of this. Super nice.

  • Ah, that's because you're thinking about it wrong (or not, maybe just differently).

Wanna get rid? Maybe not. Needta get rid? Maybe. Oughta get rid? Possibly.

Once I set off down a path, it does take a while to choose the path mind you, I'm pretty certain in my decision making, and act on it rather quickly.

I find that as I'm getting older (had my 50th this April) I don't have an emotional attachment to stuff the way I did when younger, it's just stuff, sure in this case, pretty nice stuff, but all the same, just stuff.
It's rather liberating not giving a shit, may seem odd to some, but to me it's just some steel tubes that were stuck together by a very lovely man, that's the bit I really enjoyed of this bike, the brief time I spent in Winston's company or in conversation with him, and I don't need a bike to remember that.

Sorry to ramble, but fuck it, it's my CP thread.

  • Here here for Winston being a lovely man!

  • But wait... have you already sold the pink one and now you're selling the clearcoat one as well?
Makes me feel relatively decisive (for once)
    ; )

  • I completely agree with the fact that bikes are just things. I don't hold sentiment to objects either and agree that the process is the enjoyable part.

I think that's why I get through so many bikes... The building and tinkering with something new.

  • the closer you are to selling your bike at any moment, the closer you are to god at any moment

  • Yep, pink bike is now being ridden in Switzerland.
And clearcoat will be going once it's been cleaned, and I've worked out which parts to sell with it, and worked out a price (considering it needs painting).
I am decisive, but also a good bit impulsive.

  • I don't know about being closer to god, but making the decision certainly clears the mind clutter.

  • God buys a lot of secondhand bikes

  • ?

  • so I can obsess over the latest boot n rucksack tech.

I know nothing about hiking, and that world, but saw a guy in a shop with a rucksack that I immediately loved. Took note of the brand and googled it later. Pricey stuff, but felt proper. Made in USA

The one I saw on the flesh had nicer colours.

  • Crikey. That's a lot of money for quite a small rucksack, with a laptop sleeve, essential on any day hike I find.
Agreed though, a very nice looking bag.

  • Classified for Winston 1 can be found........

  • Only seems fitting to end this CP thread now, I could go on changing the title, but I like the fact that the bulk of it relates to two fine bicycles, built by one splendid man (Winston, not me).

Gonna be drifting in and out of here whilst I've still got bits for sale, but after that I'm gonna bugger off for a bit, if I ever have summat I think I want to share, then I'll start a new build thread.

Not being in London, and also being a bit of a solitary creature, I've haven't met many forumers, those I have met ( @atk , @.gaz. , @lomy , @CDogg12 ) have all been rather lovely, pretty much like most of the people I converse with ' on here'.

I would like to give a 'shout out' to two rather amazing (to my mind) people who have made this forum worth coming back to almost every day, they drive my imagination in different ways, making me think about bikes ( and occasionally, life ) in completely opposing directions, then lo and behold, they get together on a collaborative project, gotta fuckin love this place.
@Maj and @Hulsroy , you guys fuckin rock!

So once last pic of a nice bicycle.
