Has anyone tested those solar battery topper uppers to see if they actually generate any meaningful current that might top a battery up? I swear the one I have does fuck all (and I realise this is Britain and Britain doesn't deserve sun, but still, it's blinking so it's getting something).

I had one for my Porsche, and it was essential to keeping the thing topped up. I think it was made by Ring.
My Aston needed something more substantial so it got plugged into the mains, via a C-Tek something or other.
Nowadays none of my cars need such frippery. The Citroens divert power away from high-drain things to ensure the starter will have enough juice, and the Mini doesn't have anything electrical beyond the radio presets when it is switched off. -

Mine's a 2.4W apparently. There's a 5W version which might help.
If it wasn't for insurance auto-renewal I'd be selling the car - that will definitely help!

For £100 I'll sort that all out for you....and take the car away....as u r a mat
In all seriousness test the think with a multimeter, if you have one, see if it sticks out over 12 volts should be 13.8 (if memory serves me) and not over 14.4 Also if left for a long time maybe the battery needs a top up to last.

Yes, superb

Very nice example. Feels like the look of 99s and 900s has hit a sweet spot lately, not as desirable/classic as some Citroens but still a lot more liked than they used to be. My dad's old 99 Turbo is still my favourite of that era.

I had a solar one and it was never really up to the job.
Get a small CTEK trickle charger, they are great and do a great job, you can buy an extra connecter kit to hard wire to the batteries of extra cars if needed, I just swap mine over to the car I am not using.
Obviously an outside plug is ideal, I route the extension lead under the bonnet where it remains dry with the charger plugged in there. I have the CTEK MX 5.0

Has anyone bought from a car supermarket before? Specifically CarShop?
I’m in the market and the majority of the ads for the car i want are from CarShop. I’m not sure why but they don’t inspire confidence.
I assume their profit is in volume and they’re not necessarily the highest quality cars, but this is nothing but a hunch. Anyone have any experience with them?

An elderly relative has a 2016 Audi Q2 which they bought new (40k miles now). It's diesel, and scandalously, not ULEZ. It's also had a spate of unreliability. They come in to the expanded ulez maybe 1-3 times a week.
She thinks she would do well to part-ex the Audi (£9k) for a slightly used petrol hybrid Honda Jazz (yeah I know, £22k). She would own this outright.
I have three questions for you lot who know about this stuff
- is a Honda Jazz the right car? It's a small hatch, but they own, and enjoy driving (on the M25) a small 4wd SUV. You aren't getting younger and the Jazz presumably isn't going to get easier to get in to
- Is petrol hybrid of enough value to not just Petrol? They have no charger or solar at home, but could get one, alongside a charger sympathetic leccy tariff
- should they own it outright? There are other ways (lease / PCP / HP etc) which might suit their situation better
What do you lot think?

Haven't been in a hybrid, but in the OG the seat is quite high, and they don't seem to have all the other shit obstructing your entry most cars have.
Excellent I had a Mk11 1300 after my Mk1 Cortina :)
@midlife Usually rear right of rear panel, you can see where it has been blocked off on the red/gold one :)
