  • There’s a thread somewhere but I’ll ask here as I struggle to find it.

I want to find a wireless dongle for use in Europe (with sim-card, PAYG deal etc.)

Just for data as I need to travel for work fairly regularly and my Three contract on my phone is less than reliable and I keep hitting limits with no recourse to add more data etc.

I was hoping to buy in Germany (where I spend most time) any experience, suggestions for this ?

  • I'm not sure whether they do dongles, but if you have a dual-sim phone, and tethering your laptop to that is an option, then I'd suggest getting a congstar prepaid card; their prices are quite good and coverage / stability is great as they use Telekom's (their parent companies') network.

  • I don’t know about wireless dongles but we switched to an Orbi system (it’s got a SIM card in it) at the beginning of lockdown, it has to be plugged into an electrical socket (I have an adapter that plugs into a car if I’m on the road). It’s pretty big but the speed is amazing all over Germany and we can run a lot of devices without any lag, it costs about 1€ a day, we cancelled our internet at home and only use this now
