Cool to look at, and that's it.
Function over form, that's what a Brompton is.

The collective scorn I receive from my fellow commuters has meant I need a more train friendly bike. I bit the bullet and bought this. I’ve always sneered at Bromptons without ever riding one and now I feel a bit stupid. It’s great, everything works perfectly, and the tool belongs in a design museum. I need some advice on seatposts, which is best? (in black).

As an upgrade or to fit you better and needs to be longer?

As an upgrade.

Ah, well I’m with coventry_eagle on the form over function so my Brompton runs pretty much stock so I’m not the one to ask; I’d say keep looking on eBay for an original Brompton Ti seatpost.
I’m sure you’ll get many other suggestions.Where will you be commuting? If it’s city/urban I’d suggest fitting some more puncture resistant tyres and although I’m sure you’re fond of the tan walls, puncture repair on Brompton is only a little more time consuming but for me it’s generally time I can’t be arsed to lose.

I’m loving my Brompton, seen here having carried me to two local bike shops in search of an AXS charger and then to dinner.

You know there is a seat insert limiter to do this properly?

Brompfication

Yep! But this is cheaper :)
-
• #13611
Not really… limiters come with every bike and actually work, tapes Guna move after a few goes.
Just do it properly.

Ah didn’t realise they came standard now! That’s good. Had mine for ten years or so and it’s never budged so maybe useful if someone has an old one but yeah :)

Got a MiniMods post up for grabs if anyone's looking?

You’re the second person to warn me about the tyres, I’m not too fussed about the tan walls, so will keep an eye out.
Thanks for the advice on the seat post, have yet to see a ti one I can afford. Upgrading because I have a dodgy neck and when carrying - whilst not too bad - starts to become uncomfortable.

Trying to find a luggage i saw someone had today,
Black backpack, fold or rolltop, brompton block, not wider and short like most a normal taller rectangle shape but quite small. Had white ‘fold’ trio silhouette, I thought it had ‘b1 rdp’ lettering but cant find anything relevant when googling

Genuine or 3rd party?
-

I dont know, the 3 image silhouette of the fold made me feel it was geniune who knows it other people are using that, i cant find it on the brompton site for sure

Maybe someone converted their bag using something like the thing linked to below

I have one and use it all the time on the bike. Strong as the Chrome type but smaller with the same material. It doesnt have a clip to hold the top down but the Velcro works. Made with all synthetic materials and rainproof.

Headed over to Steve parry’s house today, (Google him, has made all sorts including Brompton tandem) picked up his mk1 to sell, of course the bloke had fitted a T line carbon Chainset… “it was going spare as I have fitted an FSA to my T line for belt drive to match my P line” … always a project, always an idea, always glad to chat to him.
Anyhow, here it is, number 224!
