Couple of albums out on Friday. London Brew - Nubiya Garcia, Shabaka Hutchings, Theon Cross, Tom Skinner and a big bunch of others attempting an album in the spirit of Bitches Brew. Also new Rob Mazurek; loved Dimensional Stardust, so looking forward to that.

I have the Rob Mazurek on pre-order since it was announced.😍

I listened to the couple of tracks of London Brew available on Bandcamp. It sounds very promising. And (imo) the best new jazz to come out of the UK this year yet. Vinyl release is delayed a bit (unsurprisingly) I heard.

There's also a new EABS album to look forward to!
Edit...Just realised it's EABS and Jaubi so I'm going to hold off for now. I'm not such a fan of the Jaubi stuff.

I've had London Brew on order for a while now, but the vinyl has been delayed a bit - only a couple of weeks though.
Not sure if they're strictly jazz, but I've just got a ticket to see Ishmael Ensemble in a little room in Portsmouth soon - really like them on record so I'm hoping they're decent live.

After my local record shop mentioned it to me every time I went in, finally picked up The Necks - Travel, and like it a lot. Dat bassline on the first track is fantastic. He also pushed a couple of used CDs on me, Nik Bartsch's Ronin - Holon and Stoa, which kinda remind me of minimal techno done in an acoustic jazz stylee.

and in what seems to be a theme, I finally picked up the Moritz Von Oswald Trio album (with Laurel Halo), which I'm liking a lot on it's first spin.

Have we had this yet? I'm into it, it's a bit haunting. I think it's just had a re-release.

It was a new album released last October. I posted it at the time but it deserves a re-post; it's excellent.
His collaborations with Sam Wilkes are also well worth checking out.

Would be remiss if I didn't post a mate's gig in Camberwell tonight (Friday). Saw them at Cable Café a while back and it was really good evening.

Anyone else listening to the Mestizo album (not to be confused with Mestizo the hip-hop artist). Mix of Steam Down collective and Colombian Salsa/Folk/Hip-Hop musicians. Doomcannon is on keys. Album of the year so far for me.

Heard a few tracks on the radio - got the record on order, sounds excellent from what I've heard.
Got this a couple of days ago - https://chiminyo.bandcamp.com/album/nrg-1
Well impressed, fully improvised live session recorded straight to vinyl. Worth a listen. -

New Knower album out today. Previous album was very inconsistent but this is excellent. Well worth a listen.
Some amazing talent on this album (outside Louis Cole):
Sam Wilkes
Sam Gendel
Mononeon
Jacob Mann
Paul Cornish - some outstanding piano parts on this
David Binney - he made a guest appearance at Louis Coles show last month. Sax solo blew me away. -

That's annoying. Maybe it'll hit in a few days. I've got the vinyl coming from Bandcamp so can stream / download from there.
Enjoying this tonight..
