My housemate had his Spicy stolen recently but was the happiest boy ever after we built this up for him yesterday, it's very nice.

For a giggle, give us the list price for that

I don't have it, due to finance needs it wasn't bought through me. He said he's insured the fuck out of it this time though for up to £7k.

Pfft close enough

If I ride a small - 535mm top tube road bike, what size of frame should I be looking in an MTB?
Kinda like the look of a hardtail XC thing for smashing round Epping. Also, no idea what that’s called and how to search eBay for it. Anyone got a sick biek they don’t want anymore?

should have bought mine!

I've tried to average out stack and reach measurements on the frames I like the look of for my new project but can I do a sanity check, does 510mm reach and 640mm stack sound alright for me at 6'2 with kinda short legs?
The LTS frame should be here within the next couple hours so I'll need to see what impact the shape of it has on those measurements but, good place to start/aim for?
Also, everything should be measured static, without sag or anything right?

Oh and on a mullet setup, would you typically measure bb drop from the axle of the smaller wheel or a line drawn between the two axles?

It's cool to see an artisanal downcountry bike I guess, but no idea if it makes any sense.

The reach on my bikes is 505mm and I'm just shorter than you

What sta?
I’m going quite steep at 78deg.
The Merida One Sixty has a 79deg sta and on the Long that I rode the reach is 498mm, I thought it felt short, the X Long reach is 525mm so I went sort of in the middle.

If you want a visual representation of how geometry has changed, the red represents the existing front triangle of the LTS 5000 frameRotataed forwards a bit to steepen the sta.
The purple represents where the forks and headtube need to go for those 510/640 numbers!

Is rotating the whole frame forward going to compromise how the suspension performs…assume that someone designed it at these angles for a reason.

• #26716
Guess I’ll find out the first time I ride it because suspension geometry is not something I understand at all haha!

I’m also going to cut the frame up a bit to widen it to clear the 2.4” tyre I want to fit and I’ll be remaking and slightly relocating the lower shock mount as a 2.4” tyre is too tall for where it’s currently sitting.
Who knows what it’ll do to the suspension geometry but I don’t think I’m moving the lower mount much more than the chips allow the top mount to be moved which I think changes the travel slightly.
What’s the worst that can happen?

compromise how the suspension performs
It's performance was already compromised simply by being suspension from 1995

Haha, very much this! Look at the stroke length on the shock!

You at least hope they vaguely thought about the rear wheel movement before bolting it together beyond just “haha boing boing”

Hope.

"Haha boing boing" is definitely my kinda language!

Enduro bikes (Bronson with an, erm, suspension saddle) rule the roost here at Bukit Timah
