  • The difference between the 2 prices quoted in this post https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16985549/

Separately, anyone have a front mudguard, ideally black, that they want to get rid of?

  • Yeah, the frame warranty is also a pretty solid point of buying new. I really don't mind the colour and the looks, albeit I actually do fancy the bnw scheme on this year's A Line.
I think I might as well just go for it after I figure out which one (or more) of my other bikes to sell.

  • Morning guys
Looking to get a wider bar for flatbar brompton. Any suggestions and would it affect the cables? Please and tanks

  • are there any tanwall tyres with reflective strip?
Law here requires reflective elements on wheels (either tyres or fugly spoke reflectors)

  • are there any tanwall tyres with reflective strip?

I don't think so, the main are Kojak/Continental or Shwalbe. If tan, then no reflective strip. If you really want tanwall, time to get those spoke reflectors out or you could try these?*

I'm fascinated to know where 'law here' is and whether you would ever be stopped for not having reflective elements?

    *not an endorsement

  • thats what I thought...those reflectors are no option XD

"Here" is Austria, especially in Vienna.
There are some hotspots where the police enforce "bike stops" and check cyclics for their gear.
If only 1 thing is missing, they probably gonna let you go without paying (depends on your attitude towards them). Otherwise you have to pay (20-30€) per missing piece!
Citybikes require: lights, bell, reflectors front/back/pedals and wheels

  • Get some deep dish carbon wheels for the Brompton and claim it's a race bike?

  • I have these that replaced the standard s bar. They are dreamy, bit wider, great sweep, but still don’t make it a larger package once folded.

I had it recabled when they were replaced, but I imagine you’d need to otherwise it’ll all get a bit tight for the fold.

  • The Schwalbe Almotion which are on the Barbour special edition are tanwall with a reflective strip. Not sure if it's possible to source them separately though.

  • excellent spot.

Available in the UK at SJS . Am sure Google.au will direct HH to where required, search Schwalbe Marathon almotion addix

  • well as you can guess the law is quite strict about what counts as racebike as well XD.
(max 12kg, race bars, min 630mm rim diameter, max 23mm rims)

  • I've been riding them for a while, they're nice. Good in the wet and few punctures. Tanwall tyres on a Brompton are a false economy though; it's impossible to keep them clean if you ride in anything but the driest of weather.

  • thanks for the input. sounds quite logic XD

  • Was there last summer and yeah the rules are ridiculous.

Safety in numbers though, 25 polo players in a peloton, front brakes only, no helmets, no problem!

  • Well, in that case I'm a law-breaking felon. The last time I was riding through Vienna, at the start of the Three Peaks Bike Race, I had 30mm wide rims. And no bell or reflective tyres or pedals. I imagine the extradition warrant will be on its way...

  • Are there only one set of regulations that define “race bike”? I’m struggling to see Loic Bruni racing on something that meets those specs

  • looking for a nicer looking and maybe lighter weight rim brake shoe / pad combo.

  • how does the fold work on these, I like the idea of stripping off for the summer but realised the front guard had the clip and without the rear one it won't roll folder. can live with out the roll but carrying it with the front wheel flapping is a pain

  • Same as normal, Brompton do an E type
Hook, the bike just leans a bit to the side

  • Are second hand brompton prices still high or have they settled back to pre covid levels?

  • nothing is going back to pre covid pricing

  • So £500 bromptons on facebook are probably stolen.
