Leyland or Dulux vinyl matt mixed to colour de jour. It's all the same and will need re-done eventually anyway.

Agreed, Dulux colour match it.

Our kitchen is some sort of dulux wipable stuff (very white) and my folks have some sort of dulux heavy duty paint for their halls (colour matched to F&B bougie Georgean green).
You can use a good quality pencil eraser to get rid of most marks on my folks walls and it's been really chip resistant for almost 15yrs now. Ours wipe down and withstand cleaning products.
So I'd have a look at dulux product range for whatever their toughest cleanable stuff is and get that colour mixed. Or if white just buy the kitchen stuff.

Yep, I'd definitely look at the tough stuff, especially for hallways.

You lovely people. Delux it is then, nice and simple.
Thanks all.

These folk think they can just walk away scott free, people dont forget especially when its thousands of pounds.

We used Leyland Hard wearing matt emulsion on the hallway, colour matched to a F&B colour and it's good.
-
• #6934
Having used F&B emulsion in my living room I'd never use it again... It marks really easily, isn't wipeable and you can't even touch it up you have to repaint the whole wall.
Dulux and Leyland colour match is what I recommend when I get asked by family. Valspar is ok but not as good as the previous two.

Paint options folks, what brand for internal walls (hallways), too poor for LG and FB these days. Send money plz.
Decorator at work recommended Dulux Trade (Trade as opposed to standar Dulux) or Zinsser for durability.
-
• #6936
You doing it or getting decorator?

The F&B dead flat is pretty good. The colour matched Dulux/Leyland gives the colour but there is a difference in the finish of the paint imo.

Not that anyone needs any more names in the mix but I've been a convert to Tikkurila paints for almost everything. Colour matched Optiva 3 has worked well on walls for a matt finish for us.

We are using little greene as it’s way better than F&B and it just so happens some of the colours are from their remix section which is a lot cheaper.
Albany and Tikkaluria would be my ‘budget’ choice for walls and Johnstones aqua guard for satinwood.
if there are grubby kids around then the scruff-x from Benjamin More but i think thats still £££

We used Crown Trade Clean Extreme in our hallway because were always taking the bikes through, round tight corners. I'm still amazed at being able to scrub black marks off with some isopropyl and a cloth. Also, it went on really easy, the coverage was impressive.

Thanks again all.
Got some Vaspar or whatever sample a too.
Doing it ourselves as we are already over budget, and still don’t have a floor (may go cork as a homage to the forum).
We have little green absolute Matt across most the house but Tbf I feel it was a massive mistake as it marks so easily. We also went way too dark in hallways. -

Outing myself as a lover of expensive paint, but earthborn clay paint is lovely. Don't even need to stir it, one coat will cover anything. It is wipeable only in the sense that dabbing at a mark on the wall will also remove the paint.

scruff-x.... £££
Jesus!
The price difference between that and Dulux would probably cover paying someone to do it for you.

Well, locks were changed today. Went out briefly afterwards and when I came back saw builder's van parked on the street, but he immediately drove off. Thought he might have been dropping off the keys, but nope. Hopefully he wasn't looking to do anything nefarious - early evening is not peak time for criminal activity, plus he does have a plausible reason to be in the area as he is working on another house close by.
I've taken comprehensive photo/video of the crappy, unfinished work. Am I ok to start putting it right, or should I try and find another fitter to assess/quote for trying to fix things? I did ring a few people earlier in the week, but surprisingly no-one was interested in trying to fix a botched job.

@Marron have you paid this clown the full amount?
If not I would ensure you've given him notice if not already that you're getting the work done by a more competent and reliable tradesperson and the amount to have the work completed will be deducted from his quote.
You could also drop in there that you've seen him in the area and that you will be collecting your keys from him.

It must be possible to get it cheaper, as we had this done recently.
Paint is fabulous. Labour was pricey but the guy was a super professional and took weeks over it.

How is that scruffX looking on the woodwork?
(Will be using anti-reflex and LG too) -

I can just tell from that quote that the guy was good - was that for one room?
