If anyone has a lead on a reasonably priced (my idea of reasonable will get shifted by continued frustration) silver Busch & MĆ¼ller Mu Āµ please let me know.
SJSC only have in black and tbh Ā£52 is a lot for something you can get in Germany for Ā£25.

Iāve been looking at these - Iām planning two bikesā lights atm.
What are the dimensions of the lens?

You can use an e-bike rear light with a supernova front as the supernova will output dc for the rear.

I also like these, line small plus

Any idea what the 3rd wire is for?
Itās attached to the mounting bolt.
Is it to allow the frame to act as half the circuit?
Is it an earth of some sort, or a heat sink?

hey @absurdbird
This should be great! Will you do a quick test of the lamp to make sure itās still working? I meant to when you were hereā¦ I mean, it was lighting fine after the casing broke, but just for peace of mind that you wonāt be doing loads of work needlessly, itās been in a draw for quite a long time.

Is it to allow the frame to act as half the circuit?
Thatās exactly what it is. If you look closely at the circuit board it will be commoned with one of the other terminals, which will usually be marked with a ā (earth) symbol on the plastic housing.

š
Thank you.
I (and Skully) thought this would be the case.Itās not an āearthā though, is it?
Iāll be using two wires from the front light so I can just cut it off.

Yeah.
Iāll bring it over with beers - I havenāt got the wheel/light/rack set up in the Porter yet. -

While Iām on the subject, is this part the capacitor for the stand light?
Anyone know if mounting the PCB/LED assembly onto an aluminium frame/armature using a dab of silicone on the back of it will be ok?

Pretty sure that is the capacitorā¦ theyāre something like batteries, and that looks something like a batteryā¦

New Exposure red eye doesn't want to play ball with my Revo, looks like they have changed the connector style. Anything that can be done ?
Edit, adding image.

My thoughts exactly old boy
I reckon a glob of silicone is the answer.
-
• #4447
Iāve not had an issue with a new red eye bought a few months ago. Looks to have the same (changed) cable-stress moulding that feels a bit cheaper than the old one but the barrel plug remains the same. Maybe you got a duff one?

be careful some scam website in Germany are selling it at a price too good to be true... and pretty much out of stock everywhere. and not exactly a reasonably priced option.

Yes same electronic as Bumm, but Bumm has a plastic casing, and SON a metal one.
Same for Edelux II, it is using Bumm led and reflector. From their website: With sophisticated mirror-technology (Busch und MĆ¼ller IQ premium) the Edelux headlights illuminate the lane homogenously and very broadly.
SON is building dynamo, and that is the core of their know-how, but their lights are upgraded Bumm lamps. And it is ok!

Anyone have experience with "modern" bottle type dynamo's? I can find the Axa HR traction models which seem nice.
Just cannot justify a hub dynamo or new wheel build on this project.
Yeah.
That would explain why the dynamo variant is longer.
š
And in my heart it is what I knew to be true.
Itās the opposite of what Iāve read about rear led dynamo lights though.
Bikeradar says;
āThese basic lights are little more than an LED inside a suitable casing with a long cable soldered on. These rely on the standlight circuit within the headlight to remain illuminated when you stop.
More complex rear lights are designed to work independently of the headlight and are wired straight into the hub. These will typically include their own standlight circuitā
Annoying.
Is there a definitive online source for this info, Sheldon for the 20s?
