  • I'm gonna try the print first, it feels like even with the 10mm tubing there'd be some play. I hope to print something slightly compressible / undersized for a nice and snug fit.

  • Bag-stem-rack-envy!

  • Thanks again! I haven't gotten to the wee write up of the trip back to Linna, but I'll get to it, I promise!
Here a picture in situ on the wall in our living room for the time being.
My partner has already voiced concern about n+1, I am still working on a solution that ideally doesn't involve n-1. Working on that too.

  • Swapped the cranks out for almost the same cranks in 170mm, seems to be easier on the knees.

The @Hulsroy stem rack performed admirably on today's gravelfondo, it's just the bag that needs a small iteration. With some electrical tape the clamp gives a snug fit, I'll be ordering later gen Ortlieb hardware to see if that works without the tape and otherwise I'll go for the printed insert for a slightly more integrated solution. @barry has already kindly offered to print something in TPU should the need arise.

Some other upgrades afoot as well, but we'll get to that once the parts arrive. Wheels for the green bike are supposedly going to be here next week, I'm dying to finally ride it.

  • Great stuff!

  • Wheels acquired. Hopefully building the bike for real when I’m back home on Monday.

  • Still a couple of jobs left but it’s taking its final shape. Kolektif build was on loaner wheels with unbled brakes and 11 speed cassette in a 12 speed group.

  • Had to wait a while for my wheels because of this cute upgrade.

  • This is soooo good. Looking forward to the finished build.

You opted for Mezcals for this one yeah? Why?
Because I am/was not convinced by the Schwalbes from the Unit and thought about getting them and have been already trawling the internet for rolling resistance comparisons.

  • Mezcals are greatest bikepacking tyre of all time, no discussion

  • Tire bros!

@Rodolfo I think they're great, but don't have any real comparison as I only rode the stooge on 27,5+ before I got them in 29x2,6.
Not annoying on road, quite some grip on (sand) trails in Grunewald.
Pretty sure they are a good choice for MTB touring that's not just trails.

  • uuuuh going to need some more pictures of this once its finished! that looks superb, i like those greywalls

  • Yeah I used that one!
    Very bike nerd.
The Mezcals come up worse then the Schwalbes, hence my hesitation. But I am curious to @Tijmen s response

  • I just fell for the hype tbh. But I also quite liked the Schwabbel RaRas so I'm probably not the best judge.

  • Do believe the hype. Next question is gumwall or greywall.
I also got some sq labs 411's.
Next up titanium dangle mug and some handlebars with all the extentions.

  • And you to build that bike. The customers can wait, the internet masses want redemption!

  • Grey imo, I've been interested in those inner bar ends but can't choose between Spiri and the sq labs. Would like to be able to remove them while keeping the cockpit intact.

  • Progress...

  • This looks so nice. I've probably missed it, but what's to stop the front bag support from rotating forwards?

  • The idea is that the bags prevents it from moving. But it's a prototype and it hasn't actually been tested yet as far as I know.

    Bike is looking awesome @Tijmen
