Unless the message is entirely personal, are you able to paste the full text? Have they self-reported to the information commissioner's office?

Well, they had what I needed (shoes, pedals, cleats, HRM strap) at a good price so they got my business. Also went for the year of free next day delivery for £15 because I'll probably need more stuff I haven't thought of once I start to get my bike(s) in order.
For what it's worth I was offered the choice of "Next Day Delivery" (which I assume is Evri) and "DPD Next Day Delivery". Went with the latter as our local DPD driver is excellent.
Can finally retire my old Spesh MTB shoes (which I used for commuting, gym bikes, and <200km rides) as they're coming up 20 years old and falling apart.

My Sidis lasted about the same time and suddenly exploded. Got some DHB from the empire of nobs (CRC portal) this time last year for super cheap
-

Similar, don't want the explosion to occur during Ride 100 (only because I just want the ride to be done and ticked off so I can move on to other things. Having to do it another year would just be annoying as it is at a really annoying time of year for me.)
Went for dhb Troika as I wanted:
- inexpensive
- straps
- no silly winding string button cinching devices, just straps
Shimano XC100 MTB shoes were going to be the alternative.
I had Spesh Pro MTB shoes (with carbon soles) for Audaxing that also lasted many many years and were ridiculously comfy. The super stiff soles meant I never suffered from hotfoot, even on 4+ day rides. The eventual smell though. Ugh.

I can't believe I've lost my British Cycling platinum discount about 5 years after I left.
-
• #836
I wonder how the rebrand is working out for them. I’ve found I’m using them less, for no specific reason.
-
• #837
I still buy stuff from wiggle but find that there's cheaper alternatives more often now than previously.
-
• #838
It’s nice the way they tell me the bike i ordered has been dispatched and give me a delivery date.
But then when i follow it up on the aforementioned delivery date they tell me that it hasn’t actually been dispatched 🤪
-
• #839
They’ve now refunded me mysteriously but put the price of the bikes up so they are significantly more than when i paid a few days back….
-
• #840
I’d tell them that’s not how contracts work, and that they owe a bike.
-
• #841

Read the terms (i.e. the contract you enter into when using them) of pretty much any online shop. Prices displayed are not binding offers to supply at that, or any, price

I believe the last paragraph is key though.
If your payment is processed and you get an email saying the goods have been dispatched then the goods are yours.
There would be a question of what constitutes dispatch. Is it when the IT system markers the order/shipment as despatched, when the lorry pulls away from the docking bay or when it leaves the warehouse perimeter? In reality once it’s on the lorry or in a load preparation area it’s not coming out unless its diamonds or gold. -
• #843
Well they had emailed me to say that it had been dispatched…
It’s extremely annoying and very inconvenient, but is there any value in pursuing them about it? I think it’s probably just a quick route to more annoyance -
• #844
Worth one mail?

While Wiggle's consumer terms are ambiguous on this point, I'm sure their contracts with carriers would say a consignment isn't despatched until the carrier confirms that they have taken possession of it.
-
• #846
Arm chair lawyer - the contract between wiggle and the carrier isn’t really of concern to the buyer. The contract of sale is with the vendor.
I’ve worked on loads of logistics systems and on them all is a ‘confirm despatch’ button or a batch-process that pretty much runs constantly. At this point invoices are raised, stock is moved, notification emails are sent, payments collected (for online sales), accounting documents created for appropriate ledgers etc etc.
perhaps there is a clause that wiggle can cancel a contract at any point? -

There isn't, but there is a general option on the part of a distance seller to refund rather than replace in the case on non-delivery. I brought up the carrier contract because it bears on the question of what "despatched" means, but it's not the only area where they have some wiggle room
-
• #848
wiggle room
👍

• #849
I do quite a lot of contract compliance stuff and if I was told that evidence of something being dispatched was that it was marked as dispatched in the system I would politely tell them to bugger off and find me some third party shipping documents.

Yes, that’s Freedom of contract, and of offerendum (transliterating legalese here, bear with me). Generally speaking, parties can choose to engage or not engage in contracts with any other party; and just because an item is ‘available’ on a seller’s website does not bind the seller to deliver on a sale, instead they can elect to form a contract only when they’ve acknowledged and confirmed the sale.
We can pick it apart here as an exercise, but initially it seems worth an email asking for the bike at the price they originally paid for it.
They're still using Evri for some - my delivery today was Evri.
