Still love my (road reg'd) '16 Sherco ST300. Was practicing with a mate on some areas off a green lane at the weekend. Problem is he wants to hoon down the lanes like his old tired Gas Gas TXT 250 (280?) is an enduro... the Sherco hates it; slower speeds in the first 3 gears fine... but high revs and pushing in higher gears feels awful.
Top gear, steady revs, the engine sounds and feels like it's going to throw a gear out of the case. Rattly and horrid. It's really not built for persistent revs in high gears at any great speed.
So, yea, a TY Mono would be great, it would do a lot and be less aggressive than the ST wheelie machine... but bang for buck, I'd struggle to even consider selling the Sherco.
EDIT: Reading online it could be related to the clutch rattle / use more oil in gearbox. Always sounded like clutch over gearing, but who knows not me.
The white one in Crickhowell looks a good buy as well. If you could get that down to £1750 you would be well in. Prices are starting to creep up now the weather is turning.
