The manual says that for a 230 V installation on a single phase (what would come from a plug) it will draw up to 32 A. It doesn't look like it has an option to limit the total power draw as some units do, so to get the most from it you would want to run a 32 A radial circuit back to the CU.
the previous oven wasnt on a plug but was hooked in with the induction hob directly
This sounds like a Not Good set up, it's good that this has been found. IANAE

thanks! what a cockup by AO who installed our hob then..
now to figure out how to get power from CU to kitchen without ripping the house apart

I've heard this chap Tesla has had some luck with wireless power transmission... Have you heard of his coils?
-
• #1330
Oh hang on, I may have misunderstood - the oven and job were on a shared radial? That might be ok if it's got enough capacity and appropriate fuses. If it's on the kitchen ring then that's what sounds Not Good. IANAE etc etc

• #1331
Yeah, CU is direct to an isolated switch for the hob, both oven and hob were wired into this, but AEG delivery men and our electrician said they couldnt put it back the same way with this oven
Couldnt/shouldnt
-
• #1332
Ok, not as terrible as my mind thought then. Still, your prev oven couldn't have been different s naughty AO.
Electricians are quite good at sneaking stuff in, you never know. Otherwise, do you have much choice? -

Washer-dryers: our £60 Gumtree special bought 8 years ago (high-end Hotpoint) has finally died.
Looking to use John Lewis vouchers to buy a new one. Anything obviously wrong with this LG?
Otherwise, any sub-£700 alternatives which are appreciably better?

Getting a new dishwasher and new floor.
Doing a bit of general searching I came across "dishwasher leak pans".
Anyone got any experience of these?
Given that we're replacing the current one due to a slow leak it seems like a good idea.
- do these go under before or after installation
- they don't seem that common here, are there any better brands than others?
- any other tips
Keen to protect the new floor once in as best as possible
Cheers

Anybody want a dishwasher?
https://www.johnlewis.com/bosch-serie-2-sms25ew00g-freestanding-dishwasher-white/p3289196
It was the which? Best buy at budget when we bought it (Jan 2020). Only replacing because we have a new kitchen and are going integrated. Its condition is commensurate with it age - fine but not perfect visually, everything working absolutely fine. No issues in the time we’ve owned it.
Looks like they go for £75-100 used on eBay. I’d rather someone on here have it than deal with the faff of eBay/facebook marketplace - so if anyone wants to come collect from BR7 between now and next weekend, you can take it away in exchange for £0 and a few tins of 0% ABV beer.

What smart interlinking smoke detector does somone recommend ?
-
• #1340
Had a Nest, was good but smart element was rendered pointless as poking at it with a broom handle was quicker than accessing the app. Was good to have a pre-alarm warning though.
I put non-smart battery interlinked ones in our current place. Seem to work 🤞

• #1341
AHH i just need interlinked, I thought it was one and the same.
No need for smart then. Just if the barn or basement one goes off I want to know about it in the house.
What brand? -
• #1343
Don't think smart ones count as interlinked for building regs.

My Seimens hb63ab551b oven is tripping the fusebox.
- There are two knobs - temp and action(? ie fan, grill, etc.)
- It happens when I turn the heating knob on. However, the fan doesn't start running until the temp is chosen.
My first thought was the element has gone. However, my understanding is that the fan heating element is around the fan and possibly separate to the top element - so is it still likely the case?
Anyone got any good guides on trouble shooting / diagnosing?
The last time I used it was the self-clean (which worked), but is obviously really fucking hot.
Also the display is fucked. It was already fucked though and it didn't make any difference.
Oven is at least 7yo.

We had a short on the element which was randomly tripping the fuse. It needed to be replaced.

Pretty sure a 40k kitchen is the only remedy.
-
• #1349
I'd bet my least favourite child on the element.
Dismantle and multimeter it. Or just buy the replacement and fit
-
• #1350
multimeter it
Specifically which bit?
Cheers
So the hob (samsung nz64j5747bk) and oven that were wired in together previously would both require a 13a fuse socket?
