So long as they are "made in the EU" they qualify under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the UK and the EU and are exempt from import duty.
You will pay 20% UK VAT on both the frame and delivery cost plus potentially a small handling fee from the courier.
They shouldn't charge you German VAT but that all depends on how they are set up for exports.
I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a Pfadfinder. In terms of its versatility as an all-road bike that will be nippy whilst still being able to accommodate wide enough tyres (38c) for the kind of gravel/off-road/bridleway stuff I have where I live. It seems to sit well between Mason Definition/Resolution vs Mason Bokeh and between Fairlight Strael vs Fairlight Secan. Does this make sense? Considering about 75% of the bike would be riding on the road in winter and then off road in the summer I feel the Bokeh and Secan might be a bit over-specced for my needs and the Reolution and Strael under-specced...
Couple of questions, does it make sense to buy a frameset rather than a full build? Do you end up paying a premium for a full build over a frameset? If I just bought a frameset I would probably build up with some Light Bicycle rims and then a groupset I'd pick up either in bits and pieces or as a whole here. I already have the finishing kit that I would want to use so it seems kind of annoying to have to buy a full build only to have to sell bits and pieces straight away. Also, import duty on a 4+k full build is going to be a lot more hefty than on a 1.5 - 2k frameset.
I queried the duty with Standert and this is what they said "All our bikes and frames are finished or built here in Berlin so we declare the product as made in the EU exempting it from the 14% duty. So you would only have to pay VAT directly to the courier on delivery" so that would mean 20% on top of the 1700 euro price?
