My only stolen bike was a $50AUD piece of shit MTB that I was using as a pub bike. Some cunt crawled over a cage at work and grabbed it.
If you see a Cougar All Terrain in Melbourne matching this beast's description, give 'em a slap. They owe me a beer.

I do feel that the industry is partly at fault. (Price hikes etc)
This is a car price ffs. 18K? It is no better than a 1-2 K bike.

One of the ugliest bikes I have ever seen.

But you'd have to be a total bellend to buy that

The guys that wrote Freakonomics quoted a guy who studied Chicago (low level) drug dealers.
These low level guys handed over all the money they took because they were younger and less well armed than the levels of drug gang hierarchy above them.
The low level guys were on barely more than minimum wage, but had no plausible exit strategy, and the remote prospect of living long enough for 'promotion'.The machete-wielding bike thieves are probably on pain of real pain to hand over a couple of high end bikes a day, in return for subsistence 'wages'.

Wasn't a member here, threatened at knife point or threatned to be stabbed in a hackney park for their bike.
Big or little knife is the same offence, then I have two machetes and no idea what to do with them. Feel free to look on the knife porn thread for proof.

The guy quoted gave alot more information when he explained the system. Was fascinating to an outsider like me.

Lots of reports of people's friends having problems in Springfield Park. Maybe you saw something there.

Get them way too sharp for a machete and use them to trim the hedge. So satisfying.

No, it was a forum member. The person described the whole situation. From the 'children' used as the thieves to the older youths looking on.
Then the feelings of the person, on being robbed as well as the aftermath of riding in the area.
@Eseman there are photos on the knife porn thread. No idea how to trim the hedge.

Ah ok. This is the thread I had in mind:
https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/260063/Maybe it was posted in there.
I understand these things can be horrible to talk about or think about,
so maybe the post has disappeared.I still manage to cycle through the park that I was robbed at knifepoint in myself. This was SE not Hackney though.

Also posted in the Richmond Park speed limits thread, only just saw this one:

When I have a bit of free time can search for the post.
The post resonated with me, have had cars broken in to and bikes bits stolen then found my self very worried/anxious about locking up bikes or parking cars there again. Then being threatened and robbed at knife point is very very different. So can comprehend PTS associations.

The perpetrator has pleaded guilty.
However when officers went for breakfast in a nearby café following
the raids, to discuss next steps, the boy - with a machete tucked down
his trousers and a balaclava and £1,500 in cash – walked in and was
promptly arrested. -

Only 12 months. I know he's "only a kid" but he's clearly quite an evil little cunt.
You could call it that. Tynan’s Anti Theft Paste was a thing on this forum many years ago, involving smearing faeces on your bike.
