  • List of what's shown (front to back, left to right):

    Steinhart Ocean 39 Pink Gold
    Steinhart Ocean 39 Black Ceramic
    Seiko Elnix 0703-7020
    Seiko Prospex Tuna SNE498P1
    Omega De Ville
    Seiko Grand Quartz 4843-7001
    G-Shock GA-B2100-1AER
    G-Shock GA-2100SKE-7AER

  • That grand Seiko quartz is lovely. Watch budget is zero though.

    GLWS

  • The Elnix look like a real interesting watch.

  • Yeah, electromechanical movement. Eats batteries vs modern quartz watches but super cool.

  • Which one is real and which is a £300 knock off?

  • @Regal will be along shortly to decide but I reckon submariner is fake.

  • face text on the sub isn't bold enough

  • did a side by side comparison, personally I thought the sub was pretty good example of a rep and I'd be hard pushed to show clear differences. It might not even be one but I feel like there are a few differences but hard to tell on a screen

  • also found a new scratch on mine :/

  • Nice front row that - what do you wear more GS or Omega and why?

  • Watch budget is a firm £0.00 at the moment, but I do have an eBay alert for SNE498...
May be in touch come payday.

  • GS loads more than the omega. Wears surprisingly casual.

Probably only wear the Omega three or four times a year.

  • I’m no expert on Rolex fakes but I also think the Sub is moody.

  • Yep, well done all, the sub is snide.

  • Out of curiosity, how many "sub is fake" made the call based on it being a a more popular model, therefore more likely to warrant the effort to make a good copy?

  • Hadn't even considered that.

I didn't spot the lack of bold Submariner text either.

The dial markers looked off / flat and the pip at 12 on the bezel looked too chunky. Hard to tell in a photo but the bezel market inlays also looked a bit flat / rubbish.

It's not bad though; especially for £300 when a Steinhart Ocean 39 is 490Eur

  • Like I say I compared vs mine and there were a few things which looked different, small subtle differences mostly I noticed the bracelet and bezel inlays rather than the watch face itself.

But as I said its deffo subtle and irl you'd never look at that on someones wrist and thing it was snide

  • The biggest give away of super fakes is usually the case size/shape. It's really hard to find one that matches the correct height and profile.

  • If you sell the Pelagos 39 please keep me in mind

  • colleague had the nicest watch on today which his dad left to him. Watch is about 25 years old

  • The giveaway for me is the bezel insert. The numbers on it are too "straight" - if you compare it to a real one (or the Sea-Dweller next to it), look at the number 30. On the fake the two numerals are exactly parallel, where on a real one they are angled apart slightly to follow the radius of the bezel.

  • I won't be selling it but they're widely available now. Including 0% finance which, in this economy, is daft.
