  • That's a good point when looking at breakdown cover.

The cover we have with our bank covers us as people rather than cars. So whichever car we're in were covered.

  • Yep, I have Green Flag with my Naf West account which covers me as the account holder in the car.

  • I'm considering finally saving up for a van, so speculatively looking at Transit Customs and VW Transporters for sale on ebay to get an idea on price. Quite a few appear very cheap, but not too good to be true, compared to the going rate (90%). I presume with these vehicles, and the owners they attract, there are a lot of scammers about?

  • AA coming to take a look soon and if not fixable then it's national relay and courtesy car 😅

Not fixable. Clutch fucked. There will be 5 of us and a dog in a truck for 6 hours tomorrow and then the pleasure of handing over £8-900 notes for new clutch and dmf at the local garage at home. Fucking hate cars.

  • What car? And were the any symptoms beforehand? Modern cars with dual mass flywheels do indeed suck.

  • Don't see many of these over here, it looks faster than it is but I think this fastback version, which wiki says is often described as the 86 and half version as it wasn't available at launch in 86, is actually a looker for a late 80's budget American car. And this one is in remarkably good condition, papped during the pissing down rain earlier in the week. A 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT.

And from today, another GT, this time the Vauxhall Viva GT :)

  • Love the Go Faster stripes :). I did exactly the same thing to my Escort and Morris 1100 lol

  • I also like the big tray underneath to collect stuff falling out of the bottom of the engine :)

  • I had completely forgotten about the Fuero. It was based on the Fiero of Ronald Finger YouTube channel fame.

Today spot was for a Barbie Girl in a Barbie World.

  • My excitement at spotting a Fuero in Martina Franca last summer was not shared by the rest of my family..

  • Spat my drink out. Lol. Happens me every day 😂😂😂😂 it seems it is an age thing

  • Ha, yes sausage finger typo, duly amended.

I think I saw 1 or 2 of the Ronald Finger Fiero vids, but just seen he finally finished it, good job him. He's got a Datsun 280Z project now, and I love those so will see how that progresses.

The Barbie Jeep needs killing with fuoco.

  • I am impressed by the effort and attention to detail - the hubs! Incredible! - but horrified by the intent. Someone really, really wanted a fully functioning Barbie Jeep and spent lots of money to have one. Just mindblowing.

  • Depending on the age you're looking at Transporter prices can be vary quite a bit. Esp depending on whether they're camper converted or not, what sort of conversion etc.

On the scammer thing - it's possible, esp with transporters. They're consistently popular so attract chancers but they're often apparent in that there'll be someone asking £8k for a total shitbox, or wanting to recoup every penny of the £12k they spent on their diy conversion.

  • Any tips for unblocking washer jets? Pump is working on my wife’s jazz but no spray. Rear working fine too.

  • Needle point in the tiny hole, or take off the head and blast with an airline if you have access to one

  • Might just buy some canned air for that purpose. It’s a massive PITA and frankly dangerous that they’re inoperable .

  • check the pipes also - happened to me once that a pipe had become disconnected and the pump was just distributing my washer fluid all over the tarmac

  • Love that viva GT. first car I ever drove was a viva. standard model. But had the horizontal speedo you associate with american cars.

Bit of love for the fiero too. Lots of them on the base I worked on in the late 80s

  • Thanks a lot for the reply. I'd be looking at a basic van to fit motorbikes in the back and sleeping bag, real poverty spec. I'll keep my wits about me regarding the scams, but no doubt looking at eBay until I'm ready to purchase will help get a sense of what the going rate is. Cheers.

  • Yeah that was my first check - that it wasn’t making a pool of fluid somewhere! My e46 rear hose has popped off a couple times.

  • ...a horizontal speedo that moved very slowly no doubt for the base model:)

The GT was the pick of them, but there was 2 others, so guess yours was like the one on the left.

There was also a very cool old XJ, tidy Merc 180 and a nice C10 Chevy truck there.

And spotted yesterday a bad to the bone Chevy Chevelle SS.

  • Love that viva GT

I had a Magnum 2300 for a while in 1980, it was a super car, luxurious and fast. I'd hocked myself and was the bee knees. I was young and not a good enough driver for it really, could lose the rear end without warning. I swapped it for a Mk2 Cortina GT, which I managed to loose the rear end, roll and wrote off.
I still owed money on the Magnum, so had to borrow cars for a year whilst paying off the loan.
