  • patagonia! your child already works in tech?

  • She's her father's daughter. Which is also the reason she's too heavy for the Hamax.

  • Also got a new handlebar bag for stashing/dumping stuff on the go.

  • If anyone wants a rack mount Hamax Caress, I am going to trial this setup for the coming week and then sell on the Hamax. Comes with both keys and some additional red reflective stickers on the back.

  • Ahead of a house move I've been thinking about cargo bikes to live the bourgeois Oxford dream of doing big shops and nursery runs on a cargo bike.

I saw this it looked alright and decent value?

It is missing a battery but that's for some kind of e-assist - are they easy to come by? Anything else to consider apart from three wheel v two wheel?

  • thats not a bad deal! battery wont be more than £500 I assume. Would need a service and some consumables, so in total £800 on top and done.

  • If “bourgeois oxford dream” for the house move means “to oxford” rather than pretending to be an oxford don then Warlands Cycles in oxford on Botley Road have a good selection of new and second hand cargo bikes, both two and three wheelers if you wanted to have a try in person. Plus a nice helpful shop!

  • It does indeed, and one of the places we've looked at is just around the corner from Warlands.

So close to Waitrose I wouldn't even need a cargo bike to get there, sadly.

  • Joining the (proper) cargo bunch, bought this today for a whopping ~400 GBP. Stainless steel frame, definitely needs a full overhaul / rebuild tho.

  • That seems like a proper bargain! How did you manage that?

  • Looks great 👌

  • I thought I’d ask here first, before I break out the mig and a pair of bmx forks and set about the Sequoia, but…
Does anybody know of a kit or preferably plans to convert a regular bike into a cargo type trike with the twin wheels on the front? The new dog isn’t liking being up high in a crate and at 11kg it’s also a bit of a handful when she moves around. So weight down low between a pair of wheels seems like a good idea.
    Cheers ta.

  • They make a thing for this. Have seen them used in Europe for under 500€

  • This is a good conversion kit: https://officinerecycle.com/en/products/build-a-cargo-bike-kit/
I did one for somebody about a year ago, converted a nice old GT MTB - cost about £600 to import from italy I think.
It really didn't take long to do.

  • Thanks both.
The Add-bike is the sort of thing I was thinking of 👍 but that weld it yourself cargo looks interesting 🤔

  • What an awful lot of work you got yourself into, I'll take it off your hands for £300 delivered. Ta

  • Seat belt option seems to be going well. Proper test will be at pick up as that is when she usually fell asleep in the Hamax. Hoping that the lack of being restrained will keep her more awake.

  • Stainless cargo is pretty cool, look lightweight compared to the commercial offerings.

  • It was made to order for a small food delivery company. They eventually swapped bikes for scooters, so this has been neglected for the past 1.5 years. By that time the bike has already "paid for itself".

  • Gave the sides a lick of paint, looking a lot more finished now.

  • Paradise Cycles did an absolutely wonderful job & built a new rear wheel for my Douze over the Easter weekend.

Both my rim & hub were knackered so here is the very latest & strongest Enviolo hub on the market. The freewheel still looks like soft cheese though :-)

  • I have a pair of sorts of front and rear ska mudguards which work on a bullitt. Does anyone want them? The rear doesn’t quite cover the full wheel.

  • By ska I mean sks

  • Are there knockoff bullitt frames out there? Like full on clones not the squaretube knockoffs. A wildly cheap one came up for sale and beisdes being non E and in a very mountiany area I dont get it.
