  • That's so cool, can't remember how I learned to use gears so it's interesting to witness the learning process. Is she aware of the "value" of the bike? How does she handle it?

  • She loves it sparkling in the sun and is very proud of the fact that I made it. Her mom took her to kindergarten this morning and she was apparently bragging to anyone who'd listen ☺️

    But she is still only three. When she sees a fancy pine cone she drops the bike like whatever and runs to pick up the cone. We are practicing putting the bike down DS up to protect the derailleur. She gets that part.

    I asked her the other day what her favourite part was and she responded "the rainbow pedals".

  • For some reason I bought my son a vintage motobecane (a mini version with tiny wheels) and it had friction downtube shifters. Was his first geared bike. He learnt how to use those fine so I think they just learn and adapt to whatever they are given. The triggers being too hard to use will probably take more time to get used to and it could be that her hands are a bit small still
