I had the same dilemma: which size of MS to order. I'm 5' 9", wanted to replicate a "53cm" road frame. Went for a 50cm frame and it's a great fit.
A smaller frame possibly has a greater a risk of toe overlap on the front wheel, depending on your pedals / cleat position, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Mega thanks.
(On the off chance anyone is selling a frameset size 50, pref in ‘hot mayo’ flavour I’d be keen otherwise I’ll buy new).

I’m 5’12”
You’re probably 6’ if you stand up straight.

Out of interest what is your saddle hight? If you know it of course
-
• #2531
I’ve got my numbers here;
Saddle height bb centre to top mid saddle (Brooke’s C15) 740mm
Crank length 172.5
Post setback 25mm
Stem 90mm
10mm spacer
Genetic Drove bars 440mm
I’m a short armed, legged 6’ (hence the 5’12”) -

This bike feels tiny and like I am about to flip over the bars at any given second and the brakes don't work and I tried to get my weight behind the saddle and got stuck and these tyres don't have any grip but at least I am doing better than this car.

New shoes for the straggler…
I think that’ll do just fine.

Tidy.
If they're paselas, front may be fitted wrong way round.

• #2539
You are correct, it is, good eye as well I didn’t even notice yet
Also got an annoying decal of a snail on the seat tube, bike shop must of put it on and it doesn’t want to peel off :/

Get a hair dryer on that sticker, once the glue's warmed up it'll peel off ok.
-
• #2541
I’ll give that a go, It’s stuck on better than the surly decals

Been riding this for a few weeks since first building it up in Feb, but have now ‘finished’ v1.0 of the Cross Check with the VO mudguards. Aiming for a solid year-round commuter build.
Bar tape wants changing for black really, and would prefer a nicer stem but pretty happy with it as it stands.

Nice!! Is that a 50cm?
-
• #2546
Yup, luckily for me it was the last size in stock at the distributor.

Pacer owners, anyone tried 35s without guards?
-
• #2548
Yep, they'll fit, bit snug, I had gravelking sks on mine, so a smooth road tyre should be ok.

• #2549
Looks great and Crosschecks are brilliant commuters. Out of interest why go for the tensioners when they have horizontal dropouts for SS?
-
• #2550
Thanks, I’ve had a few Surlys over the years but this is my first Cross Check.
The tensioner is on there for two reasons:
A) Because it was in my parts box
B) Because it means I can change ratios without needing to faff with re-aligning the wheel in the drop out and then readjusting the rear mudguard
I hear you but I’d rather try and replicate my road bike fit and feel and stack reach on the 54 is big…
