  • I've got a Baumatic one. Don't know how much it cost but suspect it was about £300. Works absolutely fine. Only need to run the 30 minute cycle to get 99% of stuff clean.

Removable top shelf is useful so you can occasionally stick things like high chairs and barbecues in.

  • high chairs

Was going to make a joke, but the seat of ours breaks into two peices that would absolutely fit in the dishwasher.

  • From a well know consumer website....

    Budget = Beko DIS16R10
    Integrated = Bosch SMV6ZCX01G
On here Integrated = Miele G5260 SC
On here Freestanding = Miele G 5223 SC
    Energy efficient = Bosch SMS4HCW40G
    Slimline = Bosch SPS4HMW53G

  • Ikea one you can take the legs off and stick it in.

  • 30 minute cycle? My siemens super triple A mega Efficient thing has a shortest cycle of about 2hrs 15minutes

  • I'm not sure how recent that Which review is but my aunt bought a Beko dishawasher which came #1 budget option and it lasted her 5-6years until she re-did her kitchen. Was still working. Think servicing/parts is the only downside for those vs say a Bosch

  • Mine has some eco cycle that takes about 3 hours which I suspect is a lot less eco than the 30 minute one.

Quick cycle is definitely worth looking for on dishwashers, washing machine, etc

  • It's 2023. Cheers for the feedback.

There is also the Samsung DW60M6070IB that looks good and is at a better price point for us.

That's a good point on servicing, although as below servicing comes at a cost...

I had a feel of the lower seal and can feel that it's cracked, so think that is properly it.

However, a cursory look says Miele seals are ~£75. So if I did the main seal as well that's £150 on what I guess is a 20yo(?) dishwasher (Miele Model G 638 PLUS).

After writing that ^ I can't help but thing a 2nd hand Miele is probably the best VFM option.

  • I've also got a which best buy Beko.

The annoying thing is the mechanism for the trays - bottom one often drops when rolled in / out.

Otherwise plus sides are it's very quiet and cleaning is good.

Reading above I didn't consider this but being quiet the projection thing would be useful to be able to tell when it's finished.

Would recommend with hesitation if you're on a tight budget / not that arsed about minor niggles but you can probably find better.

  • On here Freestanding = Miele G 5223 SC

Yeah, I bought this one. It is bloody terrific.

  • the projection thing would be useful to be able to tell when it's finished

Am I the only one that just sets the dishwasher off at the end of the day when you go to bed?

  • No, this is mostly what I do as well. Plus, it's pretty bleeding obvious when it's finished.

  • I often end up running the dishwasher in the morning after breakfast, because the kids use all the plates, bowls, cups and cutlery. Can't be arsed to unload the dishwasher before breakfast.

This was even before we had solar panels, now we run washing loads and tumble dryers during the day also.

  • Come for the sweet snowflake spoked fixed wheel shenanigans.
    Stay for the dishwasher lore.

God, this place is my actual life.

  • More oven chat.

Our plan had been to have two single ovens, one above the other.

Over the past few months, I've realised that the likelihood of needing the space of two single ovens is pretty small - as in only likely if we're having people for Christmas.

Also all the chat about airfryers and whatnot has us thinking - is it better to stick with two singles, get a double oven (so more like a single and a half), a single oven and a combi oven, or some other mix.

  • We went one single oven but slightly larger and an air fryer. We almost never need more than one oven and it freed up an entire unit for storage which seemed better use of space + meant I spent a little more on the rest of the kitchen appliances as had ‘saved’ here. We’re only a family of 3 but I doubt +1 or 2 kids would make me think hugely differently

  • I have just found this now, which has me super excited. It's discontinued, by there appear to be some in stock in random places.

Panasonic combi 1000w microwave oven, with steam. Meaning we can free up some storage from the second oven, and from the microwave (which we will probably replace with an air fryer...).

I think I still want a second, just not a large / standard sized one.

  • Was just going to ask what your microwave plans are.

It's worth considering your need to use a microwave when the oven is still hot from use.
We warm milk for the kids of an evening, usually while dinner is in the oven so having a standard oven and a combi was our best solution. I'd like to use the combi as an oven more as its smaller and heats quicker but it's just in use as a microwave too damn frequently.

  • Yeah similar.

I've only used the oven function on our Siemens combi microwave at Xmas. Handy, however it can over heat. So it's not a proper oven replacement. Idk if other combis are better.

I'd love a 2nd small oven for Yorkshires.

  • So I bought a 1000w Panasonic inverter and grill microwave. I’m not convinced that it’s very good/working correctly.

Lots of popping noises, splatting everywhere. Even when it’s covered. Soup in a plastic tub gets to magma level temperature in the top inch, but cold at the bottom after 1min.

We have a similar wattage microwave at work, I would happily put soup in for 3/4 mins then stir, but I feel like I have to watch everything that’s cooking in this one which kind of defeats the point of microwaving stuff.

Am I just shit at microwaves or is this not normal?

I checked and you can set power to 1000W but next power below that is 600W which is quite a jump.

  • From my experience with built in wall ovens, it's an uncommon installation to have two duplicate 60cm products in a stack - most people would generally stack a single oven with a compact oven or a micro combi.

If people have multiple 60cm it's normally two different products, a pyro combi and a steam oven for example.

We make products at different price points specifically for this installation so you can pick and chose based on budget.

  • The original plan was one steam, one normal.

But it's still too much oven space for our needs.

Current thinking is single 60x60 steam oven, and a combi 60x45.

  • Have you seen the samsung dual cook flex ovens?

    https://www.samsung.com/uk/cooking-appliances/ovens/nv7000b-4series-dual-cook-flex-4series-dual-cook-flex-nv7b45205as-u4/

We've got the older version of this, you can use it as one large oven or two small ovens at different temps or a grill and an oven. Theres steam versions as well but more ££
    Its brilliant IMO
