Car appreciation... the aesthetics, the engineering, etc

i am thinking of getting rid of my 2014 320d estate (because of fucking ULEZ)

i dont drive much and want something:

1. fun
   
2. isn't going to cost the earth to maintain / won't die all the time
   
3. nearing bottom of appreciation curve
   
4. up to 11-12k? basically what i would get for my bmw (it has only done 35k miles lol)
   
   

mk5 golf gti with non sky-high miles? would go for an r32 but haldex system puts me off
