  • True. I stand very corrected.

    Although it was reported at the time that it wasn’t immediately clear who was responsible. And then it took two years to reach the conclusion of the investigation. Lack of immediacy does tend to temper any reaction. (That and the plane not flying under a US flag, probably)

  • Another slightly different example is Turkey shooting down a Russian jet that entered its airspace by a couple of km a couple of years ago on the Syrian border. Russia just grumbled a bit and then world carried on. It's surprising what you can get away with with limited consequences.
