  • Finally got around to properly setting up my guitar, and while I'm a self-confessed Steinberger fanboy, their R-Trem is such a wonderful design (even if it's on the more basic side of their trems).

A Floyd Rose style bridge that's easily locked in place, and super easy to set tension against the strings. As well as saddles that are able to be moved independently and easily (recently tried setting the intonation on my other guitar with a Tune-O-Matic style bridge and turning the little intonation screws was a proper faff with the strings in place). Never thought I'd come away from my first guitar setup with positive opinions on the process

Also while the double ball end strings are a bit more pricey and limit your options, they're so damn quick and easy to switch!

Also, is it common for guitars to be initially sent with stupidly high action? Mine were all sitting around the 4-5mm level, gives a good workout I guess! Or maybe just to prevent negative customer reviews around fret buzz?
