  • That one has the correct bevelled edge on the case. Bezel has been buffed to within an inch of its life though. Although it's interesting to see how much the bezel gets polished just from wearing the watch.

  • whats had more work the watch or the photos?!

  • fyi I don't think it's bad for a watch of that age, just nit picking really !

  • That's the thing, it's fine for what it is, but I think a lot of sellers at the moment seem to be presenting every Sub and GMT as some kind of miraculously-unworn survivor plucked from a safe deposit box. Unpolished! All original! Investment grade!

  • In the old car market, where I lurk, it goes that when everything is flying it doesn’t really matter how good / original something is because those new to it don’t know or care much, but when things tighten up the exceptional stuff still makes the same money but the average stuff doesn’t sell. Is that the same with watches? Is it happening now?

    Apropos nothing, just interested.

  • I think I should probably get something as new as possible so it’s not been fucked about with, otherwise it’s just going to make me cross

  • I think that's exactly what's happening, yes.

  • I feel clever for guessing correctly. Thanks.

  • Does anyone fancy this before it goes on eBay.
Early 70’s Tissot sea star, light use in really lovely condition. Full overhaul by Swiss time services about 3 years ago and barely worn since.
These shared a movement from Omega and is super accurate.
£350 ( basically what the service cost me)

  • Kind of know this gent. Not personally, but a girl I work with, it's her dad that owns it.

  • My Submariner still had some of the clear stickers on the case to protect it from scratches, I think that’s really what I want in terms of newness for a GMT, or a perfectly NOS one. Which is likely expensive but would be less disappointing than otherwise.

  • Came across this post like a week ago

    This is awesome https://ciechanow.ski/mechanical-watch/

Just emerged, dazed and blinking, from the rabbit hole... What an incredible blog. The quality of content an order of magnitude above almost anything else.

The only other contender providing such quality info I could name, regardless of field, would be https://m.youtube.com/@Clickspring .

The fact he's a clockmaker... Coincidence? Well yes, I'd say, since the guy who simulates a watch in your phone isn't particularly into watches; he just figured it was just a meaty project he could sink his mad chops into.

Anyway, this business can't be reposted too much. So crazy good

  • You might want to push your budget up… A lot…

  • Never seen a linen dial in real life was suprised how nice they look and not crazy expensive and tried on a couple of other Rolex’s

  • I'd personally look for a tritium dial

  • Quite the we can still smoke inside boast post, that!

  • There’s one here for $27,500 SGD

  • a couple of weeks ago I noticed my Longines was nearly 5 minutes behind, I put it forward and I've been keeping an eye on it, seems to lose a couple of minutes a week. I set it to the exact second yesterday morning and this morning it seems to have lost 5 seconds which is fine, not sure how it got so far behind before. Going to keep checking it.

  • Have you changed how you were leaving it overnight? Often a big rate difference between face up and crown up.

  • no I always put it face up on the table, used to put my Seiko on it's side sometimes it would lose loads of time so stopped doing that.

  • Slightly off subject, but anyone who is interested in seeing plenty of interesting watches, and having some good banter, in a nice pub, should sign up for a https://www.time4apint.com/

A low res snap from a previous GTG
