We had this question a few pages back. Medium & large EU shops should be collecting UK VAT at the checkout on orders under £135, so there's no delay or payment to receive them. They can, but some don't, collect VAT and duty on larger orders and have their inbound freight agent handle the payment to HMRC so you don't have to.

You need to ask them. All the expensive Lego sets I buy are shipped from the EU but Lego do the paperwork/customs/VAT/bribes and it doesn't cost me any extra.

Answering my own question here but it actually appears to be based in Brescia, Italy so likely to get hit by import tax.
