This one is a little bit silly.
Made under a full moon, only available today etc. -

Well that's pretty Meh. Still not sure what the point of constraining the supply is, they're still just selling at retail so hype doesn't help them. Unless they have an interest in the secondary market so are taking a cut from the higher flipped prices later down the line.
"Dream Big. Fly Higher" is a bit LLL too.

It’s about creating a sense of desirability that, in theory, permeates the whole range. It works. Porsche sell their low-volume cars for 60% less than the resale market shows they could, but the benefit this perceived desirability brings to the brand is vast.

But doesn't that go against where Omega have positioned themselves previously? You've always been able to walk into a jewellers on most high streets and buy an Omega.
Thinking of it how you've described, it does really help Swatch though. A bit like the Rolex-Tudor game, using the big brand to sell the cheaper one. I'd never been in a Swatch store before the MoonSwatch, now I look in the window of one quite regularly so I guess it has worked.
Still, as an accountant I'd much rather see the £££ roll in from almost unlimited MoonSwatch sales than a brand awareness change. This is why I don't work in marketing!

This partnership is interesting given where the brands sit relative to each other. It's a "hero watch" for Swatch and a "gateway" for Omega? i.e. people buy the Moonswatch because they can't afford the Omega version, but it gets them thinking about buying the real thing when they can.

This is exactly what they're aiming for. To peak interest with low entry and hype around a product and get increased sales on all fronts, plus the original.
Actually popped pass as ironically came up on the train to drop a cake off for the wife's birthday and saw the post. On sale today only, from 6pm, out the back of a mini 😂 Queues around the block as expected. Super underwhelming.
Did take the opportunity to try on the new(ish) Aqua Terra coloured range as they had most colours inside the boutique. Think they've ruined it for me though. They went back on the simplistic date window and have now released it with a polished beveled edge. Think the initial execution was much better and separated the range a bit. Interested to know why they switched it and guess this has contributed to them being a year late.

It's the same strategy that fashion house use when they do collaborations with high street retailers like H & M. Guy in the boutique said it's highly likely they will collaborate with one of the other brands within the Swatch group in the near future.
Bring on the plastic Tissot, Longines etc.

This only works short term. When a brand / product becomes too common it loses its appeal as a posh and desirable thing. Lots of firms surrender to this, become super desirable for 5 minutes and grab the quick profit but it fails long term.
North Face sell a lot of jackets now, but they won’t next year.

The original cut-out date window looked very cheap to me and I remember it attracted a lot of criticism when they were unveiled. I think the frame is an improvement but they are still slightly cheap-looking watches when you put them next to the equivalent Rolex (I do still quite like the 38mm black dial one though). But of course the selling point is it’s not a Rolex. That, and the fact that you can buy one.

Have you seen one in the flesh?? I looked at the green too but didn't take a photo but the bezel is actually raised, rather than a step down. It actually makes the date look claustrophobic. The high polish to the bezel is distracting in my opinion as well, bad move I feel. You can't really tell on the sandstone dial as it all blends in. I also prefer the black for this reason, better contrast and legality with the hour markers. The bracelet is nice, size is great, thick enough to have some presence but not too thick. But not enough dial contrast for me, also rather an OP 36 Black for the price.
Like the Tresor line too and don't see many out and about but 40mm is too big in my opinion and price is high too.

Ha! Don't mind it, prefer the date a six myself and yellow isn't my favourite I'm afraid but appreciate the heads up!

Tried one on again at the weekend and didn’t seem as bad as I remember….
Is it still around?

Apparent Rolex leaks, the precious metals continue. Nearly as bland as the Nautilus and latest MoonSwatch offering.

I like the black and yellow hand on these, and the watch place nearest the office has one in- what’s a decent price for one?
This.
Was excited about them when announced but only in three shops, hype beast wankers all over them.
Heavy pass.
