If you want a proper wireless groupset, then it's a necessity. Having run a etap system for the past 6 years, the charging has been no more challenging than di2. The CR2032 batteries in the levers last for ages, and you get haptic notification when they are running low.

I get that. I just don't have a problem with wires. They're really, really good at what they do.
Anyway, it's a miracle if I manage to ensure that my Di2 battery, Garmin, HRM and power meter all have charged batteries in them at any one time. Increase that to 7 batteries to keep charged, and I might as well just not bother.

I've just had too many bad experiences with SRAM kit in the past. And I still maintain that having a different battery in every component is a really fucking stupid idea.
