The Flos bellhop lamp has the switch on the side - original is out of budget but a copy might work?
-

ikea do some globe smart bulbs and the pics have them with a small stone/marble base, might be good to have them come on as an alarm (if they do that?)

The bellhop lamps are super nice. The Aliexpress dupes are waaaaay cheaper but very not as nicely finished.

Round brass ones for me

Having to pick up a lamp to use the switch is quite stupid.
But then I have always been a hay sceptic. -

On paper I absolutely agree with you, but now in practice it just isn't a friction point at all. Much better than reaching down the side of bedside tables for switches because my proprioception knows exactly where the switch is every time on the PC

Ah it's a ring at the bottom, I was thinking underneath. Look who's stupid now...

I like ambient light when I read in bed (ereader) and my solution is to plug a infrared unit between a distant lamp and power. That gives me a remote switch that I can mount anywhere or carry with me.

Thought this Otl Aicher design on a tea towel by the Modernist mag may find some fans here:

If you liked those, you most definitely will not like the new Paris ones: https://www.paris2024.org/en/pictograms/

Oh, I don't know. Stuff has moved on in 50 years.

Quite like then tbh.
Also found out breakdance is an Olympic sport now. Not sure what to make of that tbh.

Just me then. I prefer the olden days. Things were simpler then, even graphic design.

As if I needed any more distractions. Thanks for this. Awesome.
I bought one in early December and took about 3-4 weeks to arrive, it was over the christmas period so probably a bit quicker now.
