I still don't really understand the enthusiasm for uniforms here but favourably comparing America's school system to England's was particularly stupid given stats like this:

Cyclists that swerve round manhole covers at the last possible second. You can see it's coming, so steer away from it in good time, not swing out violently 7cm before hitting it, straight into someone else’s s path.
Also, what do you think happens if you ride over it? It's a drain cover, not a fucking landmine.

I agree with this completely. I’ve always been confused because surely swerving around it is more likely to make you slip on the metal cover if timed badly rather than just committing to ride straight over it.
