There’s always a lot of sparks at the front of xc marathon races from what I’ve seen. Partly this is because Scott sponsor some good ametuer Mtb racers and a lot of their staff race, but also a lot of buyers choose sparks.
Also I feel like a lot of the taller guys choose sparks for whatever reason, maybe no logic in that though.
I fancy an alloy one but I did wonder about the weight penalty.

I see there's also cheaper alu Spark frames that could be an option.
