  • They don’t look too bad for the discounted price, would be interested in what the quality is like in the flesh but not so interested that I’d order one.

  • Gshock - got a second hand jobby that’s either not survived the post (unlikely given packaging) or needs a new battery…

Can’t seem to find anywhere I can just drop it in for assessment, only post to Casio or other postage options.

Any one had any experience with a simple battery swap and reseal in central?

  • Same here but if they were the watch enthusiasts best kept secret it would be out by now. Probably the equivalent of buy a Holdworth now

  • A Gshock that can't survive posting doesn't seem very Gshock.

For that I'd go to Timpson's or Alsal https://www.alsalwatches.com/ Alsal seemed a bit cheaper than Timpson's from vague memory.

  • Is this worth buying? Would be a gift for the wife (once working!!!) I think she'd really like it, but would need someone to fix it. I was thinking of offering £40.

    Ta!

  • I thought my Tag Heuer F1 (from 1993) simply needed a new battery. So I took it to Timpson and let them do their thing.

Still not working. Matey boy reckons the quartz crystal might have packed in.

Any thoughts? Worth trying another battery?

  • Sometimes you have to do something like touch two different bits with metal tweezers, could be something like that? Try and find a manual.

  • An owner's manual or something a bit more in-depth?

Not sure I fancy taking the back off, to be honest.

  • Don’t take nice watches to Timpsons.
It’s not what they are good at.
You should have seen the mess I made of mending a geezers shoes.

  • Ah I've had countless batteries fitted at Timpson, to all sorts, and they've always been fine!

  • Reminds me of a joke:

I was clearing out the loft of my old grandad and found a painting and a violin.
Took them to an antiques dealer to tell me if they are valuable.
He said "What you have here is a Picasso and a Stradivarius"
I asked if they are worth millions and he told me:
"They are worthless, Stradivarius was a shit painter and Picasso knew nothing about violins"

  • You won’t have seen the horror stories that get brought in to us after people taken watches to Timpsons.
Like the time it looked like they had tried to chisel off a screw back.

  • Where are you, mate?

  • Matey boy

Haven't heard anyone use that term for years... 😁

  • We have shops in Abingdon, Thame, Windsor and Ipswich.
Agents for Tag Heuer if that helps ( amongst many others)

  • I could pop to Windsor. Failing that, anyone you would recommend in London?

I have a favourite jeweller up in Leeds, but I’d rather not wait til I’m visiting family.

  • You can special delivery it to me in Abingdon if you like, pm me if you like or failing that any independent Tag stockist will have someone they use other than Tag.

  • I’d never said it until spending a lot of time with a particular colleague from Plarstow…

  • Sent you a PM, I think. Maybe two. Crashes every time I hit send!

  • Or maybe none!!
    Nothing come through yet.

  • I think it’s worked this time!

  • Thought this was a bit cringe from CW

  • Yeah. Bad, that.

  • Lovely watch though. I'd love to see one as i think they are quite big. I couldn't pull the pre order trigger on one last week because of that.

  • Anyone recommend a nice chronograph around 38/39mm in size?

Loving the BB58 currently but keep looking at a chronograph, wondering if a Speedy is slightly too big
