I am trying to convince myself that the frameset I have just bought will stop me yearning for the rim brake version...I doubt it will though.

the way a gas pipe rim brake frame bends and flexes causing one to worry if it will snap in two with even a moderate load on it, simply cannot be captured by a disc brake bike.

Someone has obviously never ridden a Midnight Special with 2.1s down single track and even thought about braking. (I’m told the fork is meant to do that…)

Take a hacksaw and cut halfway through all the tubes. It will feel the same trust me

I've got a circa 2012 Croix de Fer frameset and it's the only steel disc brake road bike I've ridden that comes close to that higher rim-brake-like planing of existence. It's quite unlike anything else.

They recalled the next-gen (IIRC) bike and replaced the fork with a horrible heavy unicrown jobbie.

if this hybrid wanker cotic solaris frame is ever going to leave you, please drop me a line...

I only ever sell whole bikes now but it’s very likely it gets moved on by the end of summer if trends are to be trusted

They’re great framesets. The BB is a bit high, which feels weird, but I forget about it after ten minutes of riding. Because I’m a scumbag it now lives at my parent’s house in Crieff and only gets ridden a few times a year!!!

Spent the evening putting new bars, saddle, wheel, tyres and trinkets on the xcheck

Will grab some pictures in the light, let’s just say it looks very fruity even with a horizontal top tube

purchased some jazzy new mudguards from the clasifieds, made me think of your current project.
I've no idea what I'm going to do with them yet but they were irresistible.
