I expect this is all over this thread but I've just spoken to a mate that had his S-works Venge stolen just before Christmas as one of about 20 high end bikes stolen from properties around the Brighton area. He's just had information from the police that members of this group have been caught but very few bikes recovered. The arrests were made in Gravesend and the police believe the thief's were identifying targets using Strava. So if you make your profile private and start your GPS anywhere but your driveway is this avoidable? Obviously he's doing that now
Also worth noting that if you start your ride safely within your privacy zone, ride down the road out of the area & realise you've forgotten something, ride back & then continue on your ride, you'll have sort of revealed the centre of your privacy zone.
