@ghostface how tall are you? You ride an XL right? I’ve always fancied a look but faff and size seem to be keeping it from becoming reality

I’m 6’2. My 595 is an XL but this frameset is a Large as that’s what was on eBay. The effective toptube is 575 - I think on the XL it’s 590. The XL has a much higher headtube so I’m quite glad I have an L. I have always ridden top tubes of 58 or 58.5 so I’m pretty confident I can make this fit

Well they are naff photos but I’ve just sorted all the gearing. Only job left is to cut the steerer but before that a few shake down rides

Look bumbag/fanny pack/TT clip on waist bag for stashing your munchies and posing.

Slightly less naff photo. Ignore the yellow residue on the brake track - this always happens with brand new Swiss stop

Are you sure those spacers are not supposed to be under the stem?
-
• #61
Huh?
-
• #62
Under the stem instead of on top, that's quite some drop you got there

The carbon look spaces are not proprietary for this frame; they are just some I had knocking around in my spares box. I may put a 5mm spacer beneath the stem and then chop the steerer based on that but as this is currently set up is replicating the fit I have on my 595 and my Serotta both of which are #scherritcertified and both of which I’ve ridden tens of thousands of km on without issue - I think the drop just looks more extreme because of the angle of the photo and the sloping top tube.

The fork steerer was originally much longer and the frame didn’t come with any spacers or even the conical bearing cover you normally see these with BTW. I chopped the steerer to make it less preposterously long and am using a @gbj_tester slamthatstem headset

Corima stickers would do the trick :)

Thanks folks. These wheels are pretty amazing compared to other carbon wheels I've ridden.
I managed to find a screengrab of the first Look I had, a KG221 which I bought as a frameset on ebay for about £100 and then built up with Record 10 speed and Neutron wheels, in about 2012 I think. This is a screengrab of a screengrab, hence naff quality. It was a lot of fun to ride from what I remember.

Am tempted to try a -17 stem on the 785 but it might be a bit much for anything over 200km as I'm already at 2 scoble bricks and getting more and more sensible by the day. Any good shouts for a 120mm -17 stem that's light and similar profile to Deda super leggera?

I really like the slim profile of this Specialized stem:
Polished surface though so might not go so well with the matt surface seatpost...

The S-works is -12, a Kalloy uno is very light, pretty cheap and -17. Very popular WW choice!
Edit: Just seen a -17 on facebook, never knew they made them at that angle!

I've got a Mt Zoom stem on my Ridley, -17 and light. Only downside is I think it's a rebadged Kalloy Uno at 3x the price, just tricky to get the light, legit Uno stem in the UK (or was when I tried)

Kalloy Uno seems a good option though hard to find one of the lightweight ones over here. Mt Zoom a good shout but they only seem to do 110mm on their website and I’d be after 120
Kudos, maybe keep it unfinished until spring arrives.
Not the best weather atm to take this show piece out...
