May be wrong but my understanding is it's them or nada as it's their property. Assuming it's a functioning meter. We had similar situation and have left it (thankfully in an under-stairs cupboard, but just on an inconvenient wall).
Alternatively, you can apply to a Competitive Market of companies that can do this work for you. Other Utility Infrastructure Providers (UIP’s) can be found on the Lloyds Register website.
So going to take a look but just wondered if anyone else had done it.
Anyone had a gas metre moved?
Trying to get an old one in my kitchen lowered about 150cm so it sits below the worktop instead of right in the middle of the wall.
The gas board (Cadent) just said it’s about £450 to submit an application then about another £2k for them to move it.
Was hoping it would be far less….
