• desperate for sub £150 wheels for a trek multitrack build. i know 135mm is hen's teeth so realistically with a 130mm rear hub that could be converted with end caps (hope, dt swiss etc) or with a longer axle (shimano etc). preferably something wider than vintage racing internal. not fussy on colour or condition as long as they run. thanks.

  • ebay item 203187597732 new rear with a 135mm FH RM70 hub on a 700C rim for £48 posted, if you use the code Jan10 you'll get it for £44 posted

  • thanks. this is a good shout in principle, but as the recipient rider is small in size, the 1.3kg weight for the rear only is a bit of a push.

  • I have a set of cheap Aksiums, but they are 130 oln, not sure about converting?

  • I have some Mavic MA3 on Shimano Tiagra hubs if they’re of interest? T

  • seems to to be a bit difficult to convert, i'm afraid.

  • thanks for offering. do you have a photo of the rear hub showing the axle type?

  • I can’t get to them in daylight hours ‘till Saturday. I’ll get some pics then if that’s ok? T

  • yes, that's fine. no rush from my side.

  • Sent you a dm with some more details.

  • @Tadpole I might be interested in those if @launchpadboi isn't.

  • that weight is including the skewer BTW so take another 120+g off that. Even to something like a 32 spoke Dura Ace 7700/Open Pro it's only c.250g heavier, is that really going to make any real world difference even if they are lifting the bike up? The Tiagra/MA3 offered will be circa 1100g WITHOUT a skewer.
Just so you have a weight comparison to the one I linked to.
    good luck

  • you're welcome to have them as they didn't entirely fit my brief.

  • Did you get sorted? I have a set of barely used MAVIC Aksium S wheels and MAVIC Aksion 25c tyres..

  • negotiating for a pair atm, but not set in stone yet. is the rear 135mm? if not what's the hub?

  • Just re-read the thread, are you after track wheels? Mine are standard road wheels.. yes back is 135mm QR..

  • standard rim brake road wheels are 130mm, are you sure they’re 135mm?

track wheels are 120mm. i’m after rim brake gravel/touring wheels with old mtb/modern disc brake gravel rear spacing (135mm). these aren’t really readily available in 700c.

  • I've just checked and these are 130mm I think. Just removed from a cube peleton. Wheels are like new with very limited use..

  • Those calipers look like they're showing 130mm (or 131ish).

  • looks like they have mavic hubs, which there aren't really axle conversion kits for. this deems them irrelevant for this thread.

  • Yeah realised this.. need new batteries.. lol
