There are ups and downs to them really. They're waterproof, windproof and really warm providing your hands are warm to start with and stay in them most of the time. I don't really use them for courier work because I spend as much time with my hands out of them as in them, meaning my hands get cold and the pogies don't do anything apart from block the wind.
They're decent on a commuter though, ultra toasty if you shove something in there to warm them up before use.
I've just got a set of lobster gloves that so far feel about as warm but without some of the drawbacks so may well retire the pogies!
If you're intrigued you're welcome to borrow mine for a bit.
My Pompino in winter commuter guise. Updated with new, less agonising saddle and new, less fucked brake pads. It's not pretty but it's great to ride! Just need to sort the rear mudflap out, the guards are quite short and it sticks out at a weird angle.
