Isn't that one of the things that will be confirmed in a reference anyway? Most of my employers will confirm role, salary and if I was sacked or not but that's about it.
I think it's unusual to confirm salary nowadays, you're basically giving your competitors free information
Your P45 might give the game away though
My previous company will only give start data, finish date and last job title. They have a ban on managers giving references.
