After having to get rid of my Hope pedals after just a few months because of knee pain I was forced to go back to ATACS... And now, after less than a year, another pair is fucked!
Another snapped retention bar!I literally don't know what to do about this now. My knees seem to hate every pedal except ATACS, and I don't want to use flats...but the quality seems so terrible now even on the Speciale versions.

Apparently sram are moving the pedal factory to Portugal. Hopefully they'll bring the quality back? With men's world tour teams using time pedals again this year, it will be very embarrassing for them if they're not up to snuff. Granted that's road pedals and not atacs obvs, but not all sram gear is disposable, their chains seem pretty good.

I've never had any problems with sram in the past. I didn't have any problems with ATACS in the past either. But these last few years... Jeez, they're just terrible. Granted I put a LOT more miles in now than I ever have, but less than a year from every set now is just ridiculous. 🙄
Although saying that, I've also snapped two pairs of Middleburn cranks in the last two years too. 😂
I only weigh 10 stone!

I had the same problem - had to buy old ones in good condition off ebay, not had problems since, and managed to find some nice sets for under a tenner.

And that's another pair broken! 3 1/2 months...I'm done! 😡

I've got a set of Look S Tracks you can have if you like? Same cleats as Atac. I've had a couple of sets and like them a lot. The massive downside is that they're not serviceable at all so once the bearings go you need to chuck them.

Cheers. I'm going to try my luck with Hope again and take better care of my joints to help with my knee pain. 😁

Hope flats or their newish fancy clipless? Keen to hear your thoughts if the latter

You can swap the insides. I broke a nearly new one, bought an odd left on 'Bay and swapped in my nearly new innards.

Check the previous page from a couple of years ago.😉

Ah, I didn't realise that! I did a bit of research but missed that. Will delve a bit deeper, I much prefer them to SPDs so if I can keep them going indefinitely that'd be ideal.

Ah lovely. Tempted to get some of the racier ones without platform

The bearings felt great, and unlike atacs the cleats are really hardwearing. The quality is well above the Times.

A recommendation from you is worth more than any journo on a blog
Cheers man(Given you ride a million miles all weather)

I realised after I sold them that I'd not been taking glucosamine for a while, and I think that might be why my knees were hurting so much.
I just ran out of it about a month ago too and despite using atacs again for ages my knees are now suffering again.
The Hopes actually have quite a bit of float and some lateral movement, so they shouldn't be that bad for my knees compared to Shimano for example.
Hopefully now I'm starting on glucosamine and collagen again I'll get on better with the Hopes than last time. -

glucosamine
Interesting, I also have terrible knees. Despite it being illegal on here, I have always enjoyed running but can't do it as an adult because I can barely walk the next day

I have these Time ATAC ROCs. Good condition, smooth bearings, but no cleats. £20 inc postage if you want them. Just PM me if you do.

thanks, pm'd
It's only really if I stand up to sprint or climb. I don't set the springs too tight, so there is a bit of flex as your foot pushes forwards slightly. When I'm seated it's completely fine, and it's not as loud as the creaking I was getting from the last atacs. It's an exposed spring, so it will need a bit of lube from time to time.
I think it's also happening because the sole on my left shoe is pretty worn down so it's less in contact with the surrounding platform.
