You see "police follow this van" on the back of cash security vehicles.
Does that mean "watch out criminals, for the police might be following this van" or does it mean "hey police, please follow this van"

It’s a very niche instagram thing between police and ex-police who now work for private security services

As a child I thought the latter. Like they pressed a button inside if they were getting hijacked and that sign revealed itself. Later I realised otherwise.

I've always thought the latter was the meaning but now I'm questioning myself. If I'm wrong about this then maybe I'm wrong about everything.

It's watch out criminals, like CCTV operating in this area signs

Windows 10 laptop, (fully updated), Firefox, (updated), Googlemail, (assume updated).
Attempting to add 'snips' generated by Windows Snip & Sketch in amongst the text of emails.
I must have done this hundreds of times.
Recently, say from mid-December '22 more often than not,
I add the snip to the email, click on send, check the email and the snipped picture turns into a multiline stream of characters. This morning's example, starting '<img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBOR ...'
ending ' ... GbLYZweLc1ro5A6ypZ++'Am I doing something wrong, (apart from using Windows/Firefox/Googlemail etc),
or is this a known glitch for emails? -

Any Polish speakers willing to help with an email to Mack Hubs please?

Is the email in plain text format? Are you replying or is it a new email, if replying it could be down to the format of the one sent to you.

I've got some li-ion batteries I need to get rid of and assume I shouldn't just lob them in the bin (or can I)?
Is it a trip to the tip job or is there an easier option to get rid of them?
-
• #115812
Thanks for the reply.
I was sending a new email, no chain, no reply.
'plain text format'?
Googlemail, click on 'Compose' - whatever format I am given.
Is there an option within the settings of either Firefox or Googlemail
where I (now?) have to enable something better than 'plain text format'? -

What do you need to know?
-
• #115814
It's unlikely if it's a new email. Setting is here:
I'd try using Chrome for Gmail rather than Firefox

I don't know why, but this is encoding the image as data in HTML.

You must not put them in the bin (might even be illegal).
In theory my council will collect 'household batteries' left in a clear bag on the top of my wheelie bin but I've got no confidence they wont end up over the street so have never tried that. You can probably take them to your local council dump/recycling place.
Shops that sell normal batteries are required to take back used ones and often have containers near the bin. I'd put a lithium battery in that and assume it will be sorted. Stick your postcode in https://www.recyclenow.com/recycle-an-item/batteries

Stick them in a net bag and lower them in a river or stream. The current should restore them.

My local Sainsbury's has a drop-off point for old batteries in-store. Might be worth checking your local Sainsbury/Tesco etc. to see if it's an option?

chuck em at a train

Cheers. Looks like my local Tesco, Sainsbury's and Poundland all take batteries. Need to check them out for which I can fit a Dyson battery pack in though.

You could split it open and extract the individual cells. It probably wont explode much.
-
• #115822
Check your council refuse collection policy. Ours will take batteries and small electrical goods if bagged and left on top of the wheelie bin

Supermarket battery bins are literal bins, if you can pick it up it will fit

Cheers. I had a mental image that the hole on top was pretty small.
Assuming that's safari, it should've been in the autofill settings.
