I’m pretty sure it’s actually impossible now.

So "closing" these tiles doesn't require riding every road in the tile? Just through the tile?
No wonder these all look massive. I thought you lot were literally riding every road in each tile and was jealous of your spare time. :)

I could be tempted, but I have next to no availability until January :(

It’s a bit of a crazy one, marked here. Timing isn’t too much of an issue for me

Todays told bingo;
Fuck Private Land signs.
The counter is, I had a nice brief chat with a friendly but slightly frustrated farmer whose land apparently had an erroneous footpath going through it as well as an actual one.
I’d give him the benefit of the doubt but there are definitely others who hide, knock over and obscure public right of ways.I also seemingly took a wrong turn off a footpath on a track that had a gate across it with a private land no public access on the other side.

Todays ride took me to 43x43
I’m broken! -

It's January ;-)

43x43 is massive, I’ve all but give up on my square count. It’s just too many miles for a ride from my front door and I can’t be assed getting a train.
I got a few new squares in the new forest last year and I rode from Portsmouth to Hereford which got me loads of new squares. I’ve got the use of static home up there this year so hoping to get some rides in up there this year.

That's a good point. I need to think about remaining CX races and see what else is in the schedule!

I mean hard to imagine anything more appealing than faffing around in a soggy industrial area 🤷♂️

I don't know what I'm looking at here. What is it?
What's stopping you flying a Garmin over on a drone?

I think it’s an oil refinery? Or depot attached to the port?
Nothing but that doesn’t seem quite in the spirit

True but it's less risky than a break and enter.
Can you boat in from the seafront

What's stopping you flying a Garmin over on a drone?
a) It's not human powered
b) You haven't actually visited the square. There are far easier ways to cheat if you want. Just edit a GPX file to put some points in the square and then upload that.
A kayak along that part of the river would get a bunch of those tiles. Probably best to organise this with a group of people (for safety reasons) alongside someone that knows what they are doing.

Packrafting is all the rage these days...

Has anyone just generated a "whole earth" GPX and uploaded that? I would like to see that, if only until it was flagged :)

There are a bunch of squares like this near my house around Southampton water / the Fawley oil refinery. I was considering putting the paddle board on the cargo bike and riding over to bag one in particular which would be a massive help with my overall square. But given the amount of marsh land around the area finding a point to get into the water would give me a much longer paddle than I fancy and the likely hood of getting into trouble would be high. I've given up on the idea for now at least.

Also I've tried in the past of pick up a square off my local beach a few time by going to a walk when there are really low tides and each time I've missed it by what must have been just a few feet. I've tried creating a route on strava to try and confirm when I get there but doesn't seem to let you plot a route into the sea.

With RWGPS you can draw lines, might be helpful?
Can I tempt anyone to join me in going out to London Gateway Port/ Thames Haven?
