Omnium mini has been revolutionary. Kept me off the tube more than once now. Couple more bits to add and fettle until this is done but couldn't go back.
Only urgent one is some way of keeping the front wheel safe, is there any better option than pitlock for thru axles? Id rather avoid having to carry two locks around

Hexlox have through axle solutions?

my thinking is, its never going to be a light bike, so adding another D-Lock on the front isn't much of an extra burden!

Wow. Last two minis are really nice.

Just realised its pinhead not pitlock: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/hub-spares/pinhead-thru-axle-lock-m15-x-124-mm/
Anyone on here used them? But still much cheaper than hexlox which is 50+ for the compatible axle and then 20ish for bolt and key

Following on from this discussion on axle locks - I bought some Pitlocks but they clearly don’t work for Bullitts (thanks shop that literally sold me bike and skewers).
Anyone have a solution/recommendation. I don’t live in London and it doesn’t live outside overnight so theft is slightly less of an issue but I still want my wheels secured, with the front one being a particular challenge.

You could fit a jubilee clip over the quick release lever & fork? Not ideal but would stop casual theft.

Yeah the hexlox stuff is expensive. As a bit of extra security for all the components on your bike though I quite like it... On my nicer bikes I use it to secure the seatpost saddle and cockpit as well as the wheels.
I also try and only buy stuff once a year during their black friday sales so it doesn't sting quite as much.
Could you use one of their non magnetic adapters in your existing through axle or is it not compatible?

jubilee clip
That will get a proper laugh out of the thief for sure 😅

Had this on quite a lot of bikes, people with tools will probably steal your whole bike anyway.

Does anyone have plans for a DIY Bullitt box?
One I could just hand to B+Q to do the cutting, and then drill and screw it together myself.
Doesn't have to be fancy, just functional.
Thanks

Just for cargo, not kids

I've done two different boxes:
Downloaded cad file from German cargo bike forum, sent to laser cutters in Shoreditch and they cut the pieces to size for £168 including the wood. The box is push fit together pinned with screws, but I fixed the bottom front and back and then used a ratchet strap threaded through to keep the side panels on, the design also includes panels to make kid seats.
Made base board out of HDPE sheet with a jigsaw, you could also use ply, friendly forumer 3d printed these awesome brackets for side panels and I just cut a spare bit of ply to size for the sides.
Green bike is option 1, pink bike is option 2.

Cheers Max, I think the first option is the one I'd go for. I don't have a jigsaw anymore, it gave up on me a while back and I never got it replaced. All I have is a reciprocating saw which is only good for blunt rough work like chopping up logs.
I'm assuming this is where the plans are, somewhere?
https://www.cargobikeforum.de/forum/index.phpI'll take a proper look at it later on today when I'm on my laptop as it's harder on the phone. My German is non existent.

Kev, I'll WhatsApp you the file and the guide. As I've got the edited version which holds together with a ratchet strap.
We treated with resin waterproofing and then gloss painted as well.

Love your electrified Bullitt's. I'm about to go down the Bafang rabbit hole. Thinking BBSHD and 52v battery under the load bed.
Have you looked into the Egg controller?

If you have the version that uses screws and glue to put together that would be OK, as I already have loads of that at home. Thanks!
Your paint job looks very nicely done alright.

Where is the best shop to get an omnium mini through cyclescheme?
-
• #10824
I got my cargo from Paradise cycles and they were great!

• #10825
I got mine from them too
Also a reputable brand so prob ok. I’d always take precautions anyway because a li-ion fire is not something you want in your home particularly ..
