I struggle to fit in 5k runs alongside work.
Imagine running a marathon before you even start.

Yeah, it's a free 4km run from Brandenburger Tor to the Berlin Cathedral and back, pretty much. Happened for the 50th time today!
Organised by the runing club that also does the 100 mile Berlin Wall Race around the whole city 🙂 -

Week 9 wrapped up today with a 10km 'race' (I didn't enter anything so just did a tt), starting the year on a nice note with a pb of nearly 90 seconds (43:52).
The half is 3 weeks today, I have 2 'race pace' sessions left (8.1km and 3.2km). Having just really pushed myself for a 10k at 4:23/km, a half at 4:30/km is (still) feeling very out of reach. Should I be throwing in some more pacey bits in my other runs or continue to t r u s t t h e p r o c e s s?

Anyone got any experience of curved treadmills? Thinking about getting one, I think they look like a great innovation but never had the chance to try one, my gym hasn't got one. Bit concerned as they seem to be more aimed at HIIT stuff more than just churning out the miles?? Anyone got experience of doing 10 miles or more on one?
Thanks

First post Covid #3 run . Lazy 5k trot just to see how things feel.
I'm delighted to report that it wasnt so bad at all. Felt like I have had a bad cold and sat on my arse for three weeks as opposed to my last Covid recovery which had my heart jumping to 170bpm after a few hundred metres and a feeling of not being able to breathe.
Weird really, considering that I felt much sicker this time round and that my lungs were more involved than the last two times.
Anyway, turns out I didn't have much to worry about. Hope others have a similarly good first run back!

Starting again in 2023 from tomorrow.
Aiming for a ~35 minute 5k and then a sub 25 minute 5k by the end of the year.

I picked up a black Nike aeroswift vest today - thought size M would be ok but too small. Was £15 (rather than £60). Anyone on here want it before I return it?

Yes please, will PM

As a very limited runner how do people carry their phones whilst running? Straps, vests, hands? I'd like to have music on some runs but don't fancy shelling out for a watch that can do that.

back zip pocket of shorts. main reason I stuck with an iPhone mini
also have a flip belt mentioned below which works, though on longer runs I tend to go with a Salomon belt (https://www.wiggle.co.uk/salomon-advanced-skin-belt) as I can put a collapsible water bottle in too - and the phone in the back zip pocket of it

https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/adjustable-running-belt-for-phone-black/_/R-p-302460 for when I'm on call and have to have my phone with me.
I often completely forget it is there, which leads to a temporary panic that I've managed to go out without my phone.

One of the best things I've bought for running in the last couple of years is a flipbelt. Wear it under my t shirt and allows me to carry phone/keys/card comfortably. You can't really tell its on when you're wearing it. Allows me to have music/podcasts on runs really easily.

Thanks all
With an annoyingly large phone (Pixel 7 Pro) i'm probably best going into a shop and trying a few belts to see which ones it fits inside.

^ Was just about to suggest flipbelt. BITD when I was run-commuting and had all my clothes at work, I'd wear a flipbelt and take my phone, wallet and keys.

The Decrackalon one I linked to carries an iPhone 14 with no problems.
iPhone 14 = 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.8
Pixel 7 Pro = 162.9 x 76.6 x 8.9The specs say it'll carry a phone up to 200mm x 90mm.

I use an mp3 player with bluetooth and leave the phone at home
(admittedly i use it for audio books rather than music)https://www.westerndigital.com/en-gb/products/mp3-players/sandisk-clip-sport-plus#SDMX32-032G-E46K
It's a bit crap, but not so crap that I'd rather take my phone with me

Salomon belt
I have these.
With the added benefit of holding in my FUPA.
And for longer runs, you can fit a 600ml soft flask.
Also - phone in a ziplock back. Because sweaty.

Getting back into it this week after 4 weeks of bad cold becoming chest and ear infections. Was on track with training to be all set up to launch onto a training plan ready for Southampton Marathon on 2nd April. Now feeling like 13 weeks is not very long at all and I've lost all my hard-earned speed.
I'll get around the course ok but was really hoping to knock a chunk of time off my 3:29 PB. Feeling a bit dispondent but there should still be time to get some decent work in I think.

I'd like to have music on some runs but don't fancy shelling out for a watch that can do that.
If you really need to bring your phone I'd get one of those belts, and hope it works (doesn't ride up the body etc.) - but actually I'd rather get a cheap used watch (assuming you do already have bluetooth headphones), I have found this to be so much nicer than schlepping an actual phone around.

I definitely don't need to take my phone (currently I don't) but it would be good to have some music especially if I build up distances a bit.
A way to carry my phone was just going to be an infinitely cheaper method than buying a music compatible watch.
Yeah, can't wrap my head around that. Run streaks (or any endurance streaks) are weird and impressive.
