Thanks - her acoustic is definitely 3/4 size but she must be close to growing out of it I would think.

Another option is this:

Shame the green/grey is so much more ££ :(A smaller body and short scale length is good for beginners and you could find a 2nd hand Squier amp on FB market place for <£15 easily.

I'd be tempted to go with a Squier Mustang, shorter scale which would be perfect for a younger player

I think 11 is plenty big enough for a full size. You can get a lot of tuning issues with 3/4 scale length guitars.
I don't know about the relative quality of the starter guitars that are out there - I would definitely go for something with a fixed bridge like the one you linked to, rather than a Strat-style vibrato. But I have no idea about the G4M one vs the East Coast ones from Andertons vs a Squier pack, etc.

SNAP! get out of my head

^^^ I bought one of those Squier Bullet Mustangs for my kid when he turned 10 and it's an excellent guitar for the money.

Dunno much about Knoxville guitars, tbh, but GFM's own-brand stuff is not hugely well-renowned as far as I can tell. If you can stretch to a bit more, Thomann's Harley Benton stuff is usually pretty good in terms of quality/price. This one, for example, might be a better bet. If you can stretch even further, this one would be good. I've heard very good things about the TE-62s and the pick-ups they use.

Another recommendation for Squier or Harley Benton, and a decent used amp instead of the ones that end up in these starter packs. Nothing kills enthusiasm more than an uncomfortable guitar that is difficult to keep in tune, which you should be able to avoid with Squier and HB. Likewise an anaemic-sounding practice amp. Something with reverb built-in makes it much more enjoyable.

Damn, the Sonic Grey looks ace.

Totally worth it for £15 extra

Delivery March 2023 for the Sonic Grey :(
thanks all, very helpful EDIT this may come across as sarcastic in juxtaposition to the comment above, I can assure you it's not :)

Yeah, looks sold out everywhere.
There's a surf green one at Fair Deal though:

Thanks, tbh I think my daughter would prefer black, basically everything she owns is black :)
-
• #13366
Think the black must be most sought after, going by all the out of stock notices
-
• #13367
This one's black from head to foot: https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_te_70_rosewood_deluxe_series.htm
Edit: on closer inspection, it's not. Must try looking on a full-size screen in future.

I’d recommend giving a few shops a call Andertons (Guildford), guitarguitar (Epsom and Camden) and absolute music (Bournemouth). Merge all their advice together and you’ll get a great idea. You could also seek advice from the teacher, they may have experience or some gear to try.

Last time i bought a hard case, Hiscox was the obvious choice. I've been out of the loop for a bit, is this still the case (lol)?

Good luck finding one for sensible money though...

Yess! I want one now too 😕

Awesome!
Nothing wrong with that as a first electric guitar. It might be more comfortable to start out on a stratocaster type body, which is a little more rounded and contoured over the telecaster type in your link.
