  • Nothing says “this forum is healthy and definitely not dying” like banning mention of any other part of the internet

  • “I’m going home and I’m taking my ball with me…”

  • @hippy can you ban @eejit for mentioning the internet as it might take people away from lfgss

  • Theres always a tweet

  • Not paying your vendors, super smart galaxy brain shit, us mere mortals can only look on in awe: https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2022/12/twitter-stiffs-software-vendor-with-8-million-left-on-contract-lawsuit-says/

  • He really is just bumbling along with no idea isn’t he…

  • How it started:

    How it's going:

Paul Graham, if you don't know of him, is an alt-right venture capital tech bro asshole, btw.

  • And the bit at the end of the article. We asked twitter for their comment, but they fired all the PR people so there's no one in that type of role any more. ROFL

  • The policy appears to have been reversed and the FAQ page on it was 404ing.

Elno was at the world cup final with Jared Kushner so thats cool

  • Looks like he got banned for saying he can be found on mastadon

  • The suspense was intense

  • Lol he is so divorced that even his website wants to leave him

  • Tesla investors have been pressing him to either step down at Twitter or at Tesla. This is probably just performance to make it look like he listened to his followers rather than was forced to act by the board.

  • he listened to his followers

Any of these polls, he could presumably just pop over to the desk of the dev with access to fiddle with databases or something and get the result he needs.

I've read that he may have been meeting people at the WC Final and given his orders then. Not sure, as that's the kind of event that his type of people go to, but it's an appealing idea that he was told to get in line there.

  • It’s surprising how casually he talks about shutting twitter down and not paying his bills.
I wouldn’t buy a car from him if he has that attitude about honouring warranties or even shutting Tesla down.
There’s lots of other companies making electric cars that are better choices now.

  • Plus they are usually at the bottom of the Which most reliable car list

  • Science man Neil deGrasse Tyson thinks he’s worthy of a pass for all that service to humanity though.

  • I find it interesting that you can read that tweet and think he's giving Musk a pass. Did he say that Musk gets a pass for being a cunt or is that how you are choosing to interpret it?

Its kind of like kicking off at somebody for saying that Michael Jackson wrote some good music or that Jimmy Saville raised a lot of money for charity. Saying thsoe things doesn't mean that they were not also horrendous nonces.

The way I read that, he's stating a (debatable) opinion that Musk has also contributed positively to the world and I personally do not read that as an endorsement or apologism for him in any way.

  • Not sure commercialising space is a good thing either. The amount of shit up there is no doubt going to bite us at some point.

  • Not sure commercialising space is a good thing

Yeah, I don't really get this. Maybe I'm missing something, or am being short sighted.

EVs I agree with. It showed that you needed someone with a shit tonne of money to thow at it to combat the auto industry. Without someone like him, we'd be 20yrs from where we are now. Just a shame no one like him rocked up in the 90s.

  • Isn't pause the operative word there?

    interrupt action or speech briefly.

  • Do you really think the rest of the auto industry was doing no research into electric vehicles? He just appears to be a great self publicist who took someone else’s business and made a big noise. He did not invent the electric car and didn’t make the batteries that power them. It’s not like the rest of the auto industry was 20 years behind him.

Somehow he appeals to incel weirdos and has made a slightly greener version of the car attractive to people who would otherwise be likely climate change deniers.

  • Tesla would have happened without Musk.
    He was NOT a founder.
Every major car company has electric now from Rolls Royce to Ferrari to Toyota.

  • Of course not.

Clearly there was research, but I think there was next to no appetite prior to Tesla.

Look at how much money was plowed into green diesel by VAG and others. Had it not been for the emissions rigging scandle diesel would have taken a hold in the US - one of the largest car markets. Without that scandle and Tesla I don't think EVs would be where they are today.

The Prius was realsed at the end of the 90s and imo until Tesla was the model for EVs - and still is for many cars.
