  • these are same-ish as Feedback Velo Hinge, its what I have in my shed, not cheap but excellent design

  • Steadyracks are ££££££ (about 4x as expensive as the Delta?!) but are pretty handy - fat tyre/mudguard versions also available

  • These look good but fold the opposite way invalidating the progress I’ve made so far 😭

Steadyrack look more bling than I can face going. The search continues.

  • Think you can switch the velo hook around so it swings the other way. At least that’s what it says on the packet, not tried it myself.

  • its flip-able

  • Game changer. At this rate the garage might be tidy by next Christmas. Ta v much.

  • Flat move means I need to store a couple of bikes on our balcony. Does anybody have any recommendations for covers?

  • Maybe a bit big for your balcony but having recently moved to the in-laws, i got a 'Bikecave' from tidytent and it is solid and holding up to the snow in north east scotland

  • Any motorbike cover is good for large/multiple bikes. I have one for my tern GSD.

  • Something as nice as those should be inside the flat :(

  • make sure you chain them up well - thieves climbing to retrieve bikes from high balconies isn't unheard of!

Unfortunately it’s a battle I lost. My only consolation is that hopefully titanium and carbon are relatively weather proof.

  • Good call. I’ll look for motorcycle stuff!

  • Very nice bikes - not seen those beaky saddles before.
Have you been honest with the boss about their value I wonder ;)

Have a look at the SMP thread, they’re great saddles.

The first bike in the photo is hers!

  • Would there be enough room to store them vertically against the wall? Would mean the drivetrains are slightly further from the weather and make it easier to grab the second bike. You could then attach a tarp to whatever hook you choose and just bungee it under the rear wheel.

  • Some serious amounts of condensation on the roof of my Trimetals shed this morning. Shed is on blocks above mud, have laid a big sheet of plastic as a DPM and OSB floor. Shed seems well vented but this looks like a lot of moisture. Any tips?

  • its just because its so cold outside, and slightly warmer inside, my shed is the same and its all plastic with vents and everything.

  • ^ this - cold with little wind means it's very hard to do anything

  • Lining the base with flat cardboard might help (a bit) to absorb moisture/drips.
They work well in the base of my Asguard for sound deadening.

  • Just came across this thread - some good inspo here!

Tiny hallway and rented house meant having to find a way to store mine and my partner's bikes outside, without anything too structurally permanent. This is the very budget solution I came up with a year or so ago, using 4x lengths of PVC piping, right angle connectors and wall clips to cinch a tarp in place. It's held up pretty well, just needs tightening up/adjusting every now and then:

Given that none of our bikes are particularly flashy and our back garden is pretty secure, I'm pretty pleased with the bodge! But we've signed on for another year at this place and I'm thinking it's time for something a bit more weather proof. The tarp is ripping in places and the weight of the snow caused it to collapse recently, which was a faff to sort out. Thoughts on something more sturdy, but not so permanent that it'll cause an issue when we eventually move out?

  • Two battens (or French cleats?), one on each side, and then a frame with corrugated plastic roof which drops into/onto them?

  • Ah yea I'd thought of something along those lines, but french cleats could be a good way of making it a bit more flexible. It would definitely push my bodging to the limit tho

You've already proved the concept, next is enhancement.

    I would:

    • remake the tube structure with more tubes to reinforce it.
    • buy new tarp for the top and trim to shape.
    • make a ¾ length overhang for the back
    • make a ½ length overhang for the front with some sort of fastening to roll up
